With how much space the Steelers have opened up, I think I'm all aboard going aggressively after Onwenu. He's young for free agency standards, can play any OL position outside of C and is a great RT. Give him a 5 year, $75 million deal and I think you pull him off.

If for whatever reason you're not comfortable with Jones on LT yet, just play Onwenu there to start. When you're comfortable with Jones there, move Onwenu back to RT.

Well 1 of those 5 has already proven untrue, with Robinson being released, so I dunno.

Kaboly has quickly grown into Yohe levels of unreliability.

Correct me if wrong, but nothing stopping them from signing him to a new deal, right?

There wasn’t much angst in Steeler land when he was sent packing was there? Good for him for getting paid.
I am luke warm on getting Wilson. Seems like his ego and what not could be a distraction

There was a bit of grumbling that it had come to this with a talented player and an awareness he could take off elsewhere, but he had played his way out of here fair and square and I don't think many expected this.

As for Wilson... guess they have that meeting to gauge him in person and make their own decision. I do idly wonder what the offer if any will be. If they had nearly the entire NFL media believing Pickett was their guy then either they pulled off a great smokescreen, or that was true and maybe meeting Wilson is the smokescreen. "Hey guys, we really were serious about improving, look at the talks and meetings that for some reason came to nothing..."

I think that one needs an edit somewhere...

Yeah I meant Onwenu on LT to start.

Tangential but I 'enjoyed' the contrast of Tomlin saying he was comfortable with Jones either side and Khan saying Jones was drafed to be a LT. They kind of contradicted each other on QB too. I wouldn't really know but did Colbert and Tomlin contradict each other in public like this?

I think it's overwhelmingly likely that the Steelers end up signing Wilson. I'm mostly wondering whether they'd be bringing him in as QB1 to start or if Pickett would still technically be "QB1" going into camp. My gut feeling is that Pickett would be given every chance before going to Wilson, I'm just curious how quickly it would take them to go to Wilson.

One positive about Wilson probably signing here is that we’ll get to see Kaboly have a meltdown over Rudolph not coming back.
DK has become a massive Rudolph stan suddenly too, which is funny considering he was one of many who basically gave up on him going into this past season.

Khan’s job is to build the team. If Tomlin doesn’t use his resources properly, that’s on him. To my knowledge he hasn’t signed an extension yet…

I know Jones wants to be the LT, and that is the intention, but what I saw from him in the run game on the right was game altering. He FLIES for a big man and when he's leading the way it's a spectacle.

My ideal draft sees us land JC Latham and Zach Frazier, but there really are about 10 tackles I'd take in this draft. I would not sleep on us using a pick on Graham Barton. He is exactly the type of guy Colbert would have slobbered over.

I have the most belief in Wiedl. I love how he has built teams.

If Kahn is saying Jones is a LT, I’m going to assume he and Wiedl will be looking for RTs.

Based on the combine and senior bowl, they definitely seem to have a lot of interest in C (duh) and WR.

We shall see how FA goes, but I’m guessing their first three picks will be a combo of C, RT, WR.

The insane WR depth is going to push some really good OL prospects down the board IMHO.

Might see three WR go in the top ten and another 1-2 sprinkles in before 20.

I’m almost positive their pick is going to be JPJ or Mims.

I suspect getting book end Ts from the same program (which had the best line in the country), will be too hard to pass up for Kahn/Wiedl.

Mims is going to need time. Him and Guyton are the most raw.

I’ve read that Mims actually isn’t all that raw —he just hasn’t played a bunch of games, but he’s probably more pro ready than Jones was coming out.

Ya he has I think 7-8 starts, but his mechanics are better then Jones coming out, so probably not as raw despite less starts if that makes sense.

But like Jones he has massive upside and freak tools.

His power, wingspan and size is crazy.

If he had a couple seasons worth of starts he’d never get out of the top ten with his physical gifts.

I suspect his nagging ankle injury is more worrisome to scouts than his rawness.

I can't stand Russell Wilson and don't want him, even at vet minimum. Dude ends up hated by his teammates everywhere he goes and is on the downswing. I'd rather resign Rudolph and draft a guy.

I think signing Wilson could be toxic.

Seems like the type that thinks so highly of himself that he wouldn't be a helpful backup to Pickett, maybe even detrimental. Sabotage might be too strong of a word, but...

If he ends up the starter, I don't think he's good enough anymore to make enough of a difference and even if he is, how many more years does he have left? I'm not the biggest fan of Fields either, but at least if you hit with him he would be around for a while.

Not really new info but another source saying the same thing and Russini is pretty solid.

He’ll have to be moved by St Pats day when his roster bonus is due.

So we will know within a week or so if he’s going or not.

I feel like Wilson is the best QB available right now that the Steelers can realistically bring in, plus the cap savings from signing him to a league minimum deal would be notable.

I know there are character issues there, but those two factors are too big for me to say no to Wilson due to those character issues. I’m not a huge fan of him as a QB1, but the cap savings compared to someone like Rudolph are a big deal

Wilson is absolutely the best option. I also don’t believe for a second that KP will actually beat him out.

My hope is KP gets a year to practice and learn in a new offense and can take a step next season or we cut bait and get another QB.

Character issues with NFL players is an overrated thing to look at. A lot of them suck at being people, haha.

Jerry Jeudy to the Browns for a bag of peanuts. I am so impressed by everything Cleveland Browns lately - except the Watson trade. And that’s… kinda a big deal. Unless he turns things around. Which he could.

Also, why is literally every WR the Steelers draft an ass? Part of the problem is most WR’s in general are.
