I'm sure being an NFL Insider is a soulless existence but we're talking about someone that has 10 million twitter followers and works for ESPN vs.... 40k and Sportskeeda

I didn't watch the interview but I'm familiar with that podcast and reading the article the stuff he said seems pretty logical to me, that we're one of maybe 2 or 3 teams (ATL) even interested in Fields.

Paraphrasing but when directly asked about him Khan even said in his presser that he wouldn't be doing his job if he didn't explore every avenue to improve the team. So I'm willing to bet they at least talked with Chicago about him.

If CHI wants that Sam Darnold package (2nd, 4th, 6th), I don't think we bite. But that article makes a good point in that if the trade compensation is lower, like a 3rd round pick, the team that acquires him might be less inclined to pick up that 5th year $25 million option.

Either way I just hope this saga is over by the start of free agency in like 10 days.

Size of audience doesn't necessarily equal reliability though. Yohe and Rossi have a bigger platform on The Athletic than Haase at DK or Molinari at PHN, but the latter two are far, far more trustworthy.

Looking it up looks like Pauline is probably as wrong as often as he's right. I don't know what Schefter's record is, but he's tainted by a bunch of what should be straight-up firing offences for a journalist.

That's mostly hypothetical and related to whether we should give credence to DJ rumours (answer - just go with the combine interviews) but insofar as it relates to the QB stuff - I don't regard Khan's statements as adding up to a coherent and truthful picture (unless he thinks Fields is amazing, which is alarming and unlikely) so the question is where is he lying. Which, tbh, I don't see much point in addressing until we get further evidence.

I'd expect it to stretch on though. Feels like no team wants Fields as their first option.

Steelers looking at a lot of DL also. Byron Murphy may be there at 20 and he's very similar to what Casey Hampton was. Him and Benton would be wild to watch because they both play an attacking style and I'm not entirely sure if I've ever seen a 3 man front employed where all 3 guys were actual pass rushing threats. Could be pretty cool.

I am curious as to what kind of package DJ could fetch. DJ's stats are very similar to AJ Brown when he was in Tennessee. AJ Brown fetched 18 and 101. 996 draft point value. Green Bay's 40 and 45 are 950.

I grew up watching him as the legit #1 NFL insider before wormy slime balls like Schefter stole the headlines with their unethical reporting.

Was really tough watching him try to speak and seeing what cancer did to him….

The days of great journalists like Clayton and CM are gone, leaving us with scumbags like Schefter.

“Not actively working” on a Fields trade kind of fits what a lot of the recent speculation has said. Seems like a good chance there have been conversations with the Bears but they aren’t interested in meeting the asking price and don’t view Fields as an upgrade.

If the Bears end up being fine with a 4th or something then things might change.

I have had a really tough time with my sports world shifting in the last few years. The retirements of the great QBs. These journalists I grew up watching dying or retiring. How sports media has changed - I remember when EVERYONE watched ESPN for news. Now it's just stupid talk shows. I understand how people get crotchety because I'm still relatively young and I feel that way right now.

Joe Alt is an absolute unit. This OL class is unbelievable.

Taylor Bortolini had a really impressive combine. I didn't see but 2 Wisconsin games this season. He seems like more of a finesse guy, but he can really move.

I have a man-crush on Odunze.

I really enjoy Pat mcafee. And still watch pti. Other than that. Like you said - junk.

This aspect of it goes undertalked about. It's very much in Diontae Johnson's interest to be on another team for next year.

I would not blame him for wanting out at all. Between the Arthur Smith hire and the direction it looks like they’re going to go at QB, he’s not going to put up numbers in a year where he needs to put up numbers for a nice contract.

Haase more trustworthy? The reporter who has never, ever said a bad thing about a Penguin player and who treats the Baby Pens like teenagers treat boy bands? That Haase? Ok.

Schefter is an agents pawn but he's also the most connected guy in NFL media. There's no doubt he's used to push agendas to maintain his sources but he certainly has more than anyone else.

For all of the QB talk, I think we all know that they're just going to sign Tannehill to be Pickett's backup
I've said this since the day they hired Smith. It's disappointing but that's life as a Pittsburgh sports fan.

Yeah it really is by all reports. Peter Schrager thinks there could be 12 first round OL which is probably a little overboard, but still. Record is 5 in the first round.

Amarius Mims seems like a freak, 6'8" 340lbs and fluid. Saw he has a longer wingspan than Giannis lol. Could easily see us double dipping another Georgia tackle. He actually credited Broderick in his combine interviews as someone who really helped him develop on and off the field. Tomlin seems to really value feedback from guys throughout the draft process and asks, "Who's a guy I'm going to come back and see next year?"

Everyone is throwing shit at the wall, but Schefter and Rapoport are universally considered the most plugged in.

Then you have what I would consider tier 2 guys like Jeremy Fowler saying stuff like this:

I'm still thinking we did our due dilligence but balked at the initial asking price. Atlanta just seems like they're more desperate to move on from Ridder than we are from Pickett. And if Kirk=MIN and Baker=TB, they probably blink first and ATL get Fields.

I just feel like I would enjoy watching him more, if I’m being honest.

Yea and I thought I'd be super excited to watch EK65 play for the Pens. Then the HC got ahold of him

Yup. He and Clayton felt like the last of the 2 real journalists left at ESPN.
He was a major part of my childhood.

I was like what? That sounds low.....so I had a quick look and 8 OL were takin in 2008. 7 OT and 1 G. I didn't research beyond about the mid 80's. I could see somewhere in the 60's or 70's there being more.

12 would be nutso but I don't see it happening, I have feeling the shiny object of a WR will have some teams take them over OL.

Paul Zimmerman is right there with those two as the legendary media personalities that made up my childhood.

All three have passed now unfortunately.

Zimmerman had a stroke years back and stopped writing… want to say around 2007 or 2008.

He hung on another ten years but was never the same.

Yeah IDK what that graphic was talking about then.

I've seen people with first round grades on Alt, Fashanu, Fuaga, Latham, Mims, Guyton, Fautanu, and Morgan. That's 8 not even counting JPJ and the Duke C Barton. Some of those guys probably fall though.
