The extended DVDs are so worth the time spent watching them.
I'm a straight up loser when it comes to LotR: read the books half dozen times, have self annotated copies of the Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales, a coffee table book of Tolkien drawings/drafts/letters, a tattoo, and I watch the movies once every year or two since 2001. All that to say, I'll die on the hill that the theatrical versions are better, though I'm aware in in the minority.

I like watching the EC every now and then but feel like they interrupt otherwise wonderfully paced movies, or muddy things that are well sorted in the the theatricals. Not that I'm here to gatekeep fandom, if the extendeds are your jam, rock on. I just come off as defensive because I'm always attacked by angry nerds who think I "just don't get it"

Will fix everything
I love LOTR. I had read all the books before they were movies and still love the books and all the movies. But yes they are long. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the battle for Helm’s Deep is my favorite (and imho the best ever done) cinematic battle/fight scene ever.

It's really was a turning point for CGI in movies. It's a little dated now (especially if you get the movies in 4K), but the darkness helps mask some of the sins of the animation. Unlike in ROTK where it looks MUCH worse.

The extended DVDs are so worth the time spent watching them.

Yeah. The first movie remains a master class in world building and how to adapt a fantasy movie for screen without either making a terrible movie or completely disregarding the books.

The box set of the extended editions was the same price as the extended edition of Fellowship and the price of the box set of the regular editions. All were on DVD. The Blu-Ray box set was like $250 back then

Spent the day shifting furniture around from upstairs to down and vice versa. Ugh. I need to hit the stairs at Devils Millhopper more before my next move. It is mostly stairs.

So, the captain of Nate's summer league lacrosse team is a volunteer assistant coach and former player at Morrisville, his college team. Coach Boles missed week 1 & 2 of summer league because he was out of town. Nate found out why. He's playing D for Ireland at the World Lacrosse Championships.

So my previous employer was talking about doing a mass ‘market correction’ for certain roles and it’d be revealed at our mid year review if we were getting a market correction. I never found out if I was getting one because I was laid off lol. So maybe watch out lol
Wife and I Found out a month ago no annual raise this year for salaried employees company-wide. Raise is combo of performance and COLA but always lags true COLA / inflation. We will get raise next year and they’re moving it back to April from June where it’s been for 20 years or so. The move to June was parallel with migrating to biweekly salaried checks instead of monthly for salaried. That move was done to save $250k per year for a multi-billion revenue and book value company.

Found out 3 weeks ago there will be layoffs this week. Allegedly they can’t layoff people on vacation so my wife and I should be safe.

Be careful. My place of employment was known to drag out final announcement of layoffs until everyone that was being laid off had been notified and that would linger until people returned from vacation and were told on their first day back.

I don’t miss it, but I do miss money.
I tried going back to the (high end) service industry - more money, less stress - but just can't kill my body for no insurance and an irregular schedule.

Now stuck in the same cancelled-raises/bonuses a few others seem to be, despite the company growing in scope and profitability. Which of course happened shortly after my car died and I opted for a new one instead of repairs because hey, we smashed our stretch goals and bonuses and raises are due in three weeks! Nope

My entire working career has been public-facing (be it in person or over the phone). I'm sick of it. I'd love a back-office job where I can make things go without having to face the general public.

Learned yesterday evening our current time (~noon Eastern) all the actions were completed Tuesday. Wife and I were safe as expected/hoped. I don’t know everything yet but am sure many contractors were released and the three salaried people we’re aware of (likely more we’re unaware of) should/could have been released previously without losing essential skills.
Thanks everyone for the good luck wishes.

Today was a good day, have 17 new girls in the stay-in so almost 6 per bar. Enjoyed my friend's 32nd year anniversary for moving to Thailand, long time to be a bar manager. Only downside is my 6'3" 350ish lb manager wanted to kill the guy with his ex. Love does strange things to people

PSA: Being rich or owning a successful business is not proportional to intelligence. It doesn’t mean you know more about everything than everyone else.

Business and financial success are an amalgam of many factors and intelligence usually doesn’t play a huge factor.

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

Elon is lying.

I wasn’t able to get on today at first. Which doesn’t make sense since I’d have 600 views per day. Then eventually did around 12-12:30. It’s been fits and starts. I certainly haven’t looked at anywhere near 600 tweets.

@Beerz thanks for posting this screenshot in another thread.
