Which of these in your opinion do not suck and why?
Lack of talent on this team thanks to Fletcher. Do you really think there is a coach who could have squeezed more out of this weak roster? Dream on. Team over achieved, by a lot.

I think Tortorella is one of the best coaches in the league in squeezing the most out of a roster of middle 6 players and try hards. But the 4 playoff rounds won since 2004 seems more relevant to contending than questing for a participation trophy. "He squeezed so much out of this mediocre roster!" Who cares?

He's already won a Cup, and I think a not so small part of him prefers to coach teams of this talent level. He can instill his culture mystique in a win-win climate of low expectations, without assuming blame in situations of high expectations. I don't think he's ever found a sucker quite like the Flyers.

The problem is Hextall's drafts wayyyyy more than Fletcher.

Personally, I've had #FireTortsNOW on my avatar since he was hired, LOL! The only way Chuckles the Sad Clown could have done worse than AV was to hire this jackass.
Not a surprise. I know when Torts was hired there was a large group of people screaming end of the world, then they shut up for a while, and now of course they are all back to scream "we were right". God bless the internet.

It's both. There's no argument previous management was inept and got us here. But I can't hold that against current management. This is only year 2.

You say this like it was a good thing.
Not a good thing but it is what it is. Most "experts" had the Flyers down at the bottom in the Cellebrini sweepstakes. They did a lot better than that, and that is because of Torts.

But hating him is so much easier for people.

You do realize people hate him and the franchise’s direction because they’re in the position they’re in instead of being in the Cellebrini sweepstakes, right?

It’s a bad thing if the goal is to win a Cup. A large contingent of this board said when Torts was hired he’d get them into the middling area which is the worst possible place they could be. Shocking that’s exactly where they’re are.

But hey, hang the banner for this amazing season. A Cup is right around the corner.

Lol. Blame picking Provy, Hart and Patrick on Hexy all you want (those were all considered good picks at the time) , but do you actually think the problem with todays team is guys like Sanheim, Konecny, Cates, Farabee, Ersson, Fedotov and not say Ellis or Risto or five years of doing nothing but bleeding picks and striving relentlessly to turn the Flyers into the Minnesota bottom-sixers?

You can't blame Fletcher picks for the state of this team because he hardly made any.

People here have been consistent the whole way. I've been consistent on Tortorella for a very long time now. A guy who will get the most out of a crap roster, but also hold back a good one while driving good players away. Why would anyone want that?

I was just asking, where is this aggressiveness coming from?

Jim Montgomery was hired two weeks after Tortofella and as I am not Quasimodo, I cannot predict what would have happened, but I think that at least in the long-term, he would have been a better choice.

Of course I realize that and, like Torts, I think tanking is asinine.

There are quite a few Buffalo fans I know that swear that tanking broke their franchise and they still haven't recovered from it. Heck you're not even guaranteed winning the lottery any more. It's a dumb idea.

If you know it's not a good thing, then why are you going a crusade against people who hate it?
What's not a good thing?

I'm not crusading, I'm just answering people who comment on my comments.

You just said it's not a good thing that Torts squeezed blood from a stone and will get the team to finish just outside the playoffs instead of bottoming out for a chance at top draft talent. We all (or most of us at least) hate that this is what the team did. But you are here lecturing us on how all we do is complain and we hate Torts for no reason.

How good is Montgomery? Hard to say. Last year he took the best team in hockey and had it lose in the first round of the playoffs.
No idea what Montgomery would have done with this roster, but I doubt they'd have done better.

There's no aggressiveness by the way, but there's a lot of haters on this site and they feel they want to come at me for being positive cause that too is easy. My team disappointments me so I will go on the internet and rant and rage and attack anybody who supports them in any way. That too is the internet.

No, read it again. I was pointing out how some people are negative about anything and everything. Torts loses games he sucks. Torts wins game he sucks because the draft pick is lower. No matter what happens they find a way to say Torts sucks and if it wasn't Torts it would be someone else and if they run out of people on the team they will attack fans instead.

I thought I'd made that clear but I guess not. Clear now?

If you think people here would have complained about TORTS losing games, maybe do some back reading. Everyone here would have been happy with another bottom 10, or less, finish.

If you do that back reading, you'll also find plenty of folks, myself included, who (once it was clear that wasn't going to happen) would have rather made the playoffs than finish just outside.

Paint the board how you will. Coming in and calling people haters right off the bat, then playing the victim card is pretty lame though, no?

Let's see who gets driven away before we claim he does that.

They just spent last offseason getting rid of players he wanted gone. They tried to get rid of Sanheim but fortunately they somehow failed. Tortorella was voted the most hated coach in the NHL, even over Babcock, in a players poll a few years ago.

You think that makes Philly an attractive place to be?
