Dude, stop.

All it would take is to even the playing field of games played for all teams in the East (especially the Metro) and the Flyers would be out.

There's so much context and nuance here you're purposely ignoring to push a false narrative.

Stop being so disingenuous all of the time.
But, hear me out,

What if the Flyers get to play more games then the others, boom we will have more points,

The Flyers would have had the 2nd worst point % in the east if the season ended 2 weeks ago. But yeah, Torts deserves no blame and deserves to be resigned.

We can all make strawman arguments.
imagine if the season was only 1 game instead of 82..

🤣🤣🤣

what a f***in hill to die on..

#oldman yells at clouds!!!

1) No, I do not always think every coach is doing horrible. Only the ones who are doing horrible. And it's also become clear that a lot of their horror comes from following management directives to crank down offense in favor of defense.

2) Multiple people here, myself included, noted that the team could see a substantial bump from Couturier returning. On top of that, Riso and Staal being hurt forced the team to accidentally ice a better roster than they would be otherwise. It remains to be seen what having them on the ice for 40 minutes a game does.
early on Lavi was awesome here...

LMAO.

Look at yourselves. Railing against Torts in a “fire Torts” thread when the Flyers are 2nd in the Metro & the talk of the NHL for being surprisingly good.

Sad.

As for Rebels accusing me of blindly following authority, well there’s a real easy way to test that the last few years — & b/w me & him, I’m not the sheep.

I have to say.

In a sick way I low key enjoy you (GB) getting a thrill out of it going the way it has with Torts/and the team.

I personally hate it. Have zero hope in this bullshit until an ownership change but it’s like Mordor gaining more power. Good for you man.

Which team is a comparable to the 23-24 Flyers? So I can get a sense for what you think their upside is

We have different opinions on Torts & the direction of the Flyers but I’ve never had a problem with you FN. All in good fun.

Maybe the 9/10 Rangers or 15/16 Blue Jackets (after Torts took over).

Young teams that played hard & finished with points % over .500, but missed the playoffs, then made the playoffs the following season.

What’s your comparison, so I can get a sense of what you think they are?

Every time you do this it ends up being embarrassing for you.

Hey, how come you've gone silent on the endless virtues of the genius Rocky Thompson?

You could just ignore it and avoid this thread but you have some compulsion to act like an enlightened being.

Those are your ideas of great trajectories? Seems like paths to failure to me.

LOL. Every thread on this board is a “fire Torts” thread. Talk about compulsions.

Not gonna lie. I enjoy how much it annoys these “fans” to see the Flyers play well.

The Flyers hyperfocus on short stretches of good play to reinforce their failed ideas, and then continue riding them to failure year after year.

You think that is good? Yes or no: Is failure good?

Damn, Bill went off on Torts today. Much more at the link.

All coaches talk out of both sides of their mouths sometimes, Tortorella more than most.

Example: I can't even tell you how many times Torts has said, "I'm a big believer that you play like you practice."

On Friday, we asked Torts about what Brink (about to be scratched for the third straight time) could do in practice to get himself back in the lineup. The very same coach responded with, "I don't evaluate anyone based on practice. I go by games. Everyone nowadays practices well."

Which is it? Is practice a vital part of determining who should play or sit because it predicts game performance? Or is it largely irrelevant? It can't be both. And if it's irrelevant, why are the scratches basically obligated to take daily extra skating before/after practice?

Frost had a bad game overall against Vegas. BUT he did chip in four blocked shots -- something Torts gushes over endlessly for his golden boy players he'd sooner cut off his right hand over rather than scratch for any reason.

For Frost? No. After four points in three games and then four blocked shots in the next game, right back to the scratch list he goes. There is ZERO reason why Frost and Brink cannot both be in the lineup at the same time except that Torts has fallen in love with the idea that Ryan Poeling is a bonafide top nine player (relegating Noah Cates to the fourth line, while the coach utters words about trying to get him going again offensively -- with all due respect, that isn't going to happen with Deslauriers and Hathaway as his linemates).

are you telling me that we tanked like oilers and still in the same spot as them right now with 2 superstars? you are ok with that?

Both teams are currently trash, but at least the Oilers have two superstars to entertain their fans.

I don’t watch hockey to get thrilled about Noah Cates or Cam York.

The Oilers aren’t trash because they have high end talent, but because they have failed to address other areas of the lineup.

The front office of Flyers would rather rip out each others fingernails with a pair of pliers than actually rebuild, or do what’s needed to get a few stars on the team.

Why have to, when that mystical fantasy of that Bobby Clarkian effort can be relived in the modern era.
