Potential left field acquisition if we lose Kiermeier? Heck, I'd try to sign him even if we re-signed KK.

He hits for average and power, with a refusal to strike out that is positively DiMaggio-esque. Lee hit .349/.421/.575 with 23 home runs last season, and he struck out just 32 times in 627 plate appearances.

All of his power seems to be pulled balls on middle-in fastballs. Might pair nicely with the right field fence we designed for Varsho...although it hasn't worked that great for Varsho himself.

I noticed that too but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The majority of Bautista's homeruns were to the pull side too. That's just where Lee's power is. On other parts of the plate he has more of an all fields approach.

So 2 of next six pretty much puts this to bed. Be nice to have the last series to line up the pitching, hopefully the TB series is completely meaningless.

I guess we take a sweep either way but in a perfect world Seattle sweeps Houston. Which means if the Jays win 1 game of the remaining 6, we are in.

Are we linked to him at all?

Hard to believe Toronto would get any of these high profile postings.

We were close on Ohtani too.. but until we get one of them, it just feels like being used (Canadiens fan syndrome)
Ohtani was only signing in LA per the reports. Ha-Seong Kim is a guy that the Jays should have signed (and likely could have)

I'm not sure how I feel about this guy, but if SD is bidding, there's a good chance that Toronto has no shot.

Edit: On the other hand, Yamamoto looks like it will be a full scale free agency, and Toronto should be bidding hard.

Not quite. 3 way tie between TEX/HOU/TOR would see Toronto eliminated. So while we win a 2 way tiebreak with HOU, we need 2 Texas wins as well to make sure they’re not involved

The Mariners holding a tiebreak over Toronto by being better against the AL West than Toronto is against the East is a joke (Houston holds the same tiebreak over Tampa)

We were on the now 4.5WAR Korean shortstop in San Diego too.

A 1-2 of him and Gausman could be one of the best in the AL. We're going to need a Ryu + Manoah replacement anyway.

Gausman
Yamamoto
Berrios
Bassit
Kikuchi/Tiedemann

It must have been a VERY long time since the last season where both the Yankees and Red Sox missed the playoffs. I can’t really recall the last season that occurred.

1993. the last year the jays won.

Sorry to be a bummer but it was 2014. The time before that was 1993.

Weren’t we also in on Senga last offseason, and Seiya Suzuki the year before? All three of those were massive bids so idk if the Jays were just goading those clubs or if they were all that close to a deal for those players.

Just thought about comparing 2008 pitching staff with the this year’s and Jesus Christ, the 2008 staff had a monstrous year.

3.49 ERA, 1st in AL

15 complete games, 1st in AL

5 complete game shutouts, 2nd in AL

#1 in least hits allowed, #1 in least runs given up, #1 in least homers given up
