Do umpires not have an overseeing body that reviews these umpires? Like, how does the league not only allow such incompetence to continue, but also let them to toss players and managers willy nilly whenever confronted over their horrendous call(s). They have way too much power.

Handing out playoff assignments is really all MLB has. Umps union basically fights everything else.

All that really exists is public shaming via resources like umpire report cards on twitter.
I’m sure MLB has their own internal grading system and dole out post season work based on their ratings, but like @Dr.Funk said their union moan and whine at every turn.

He did that city a massive favour. My sister lived there for work for years and I visited multiple times. It's a dogshit city...

I just don’t see an ability to do away with divisions in North America when they’re essentially built on the idea of minimizing travel costs/time. If they set up a single table they would have to reduce the amount of games they play as well which would further complicate things for owners.
I don't want the divisions changed. f*** Rogers, were a big market team and we should be spending to compete with the Yankees and Boston.

They have been spending lately, and are a tax team this year.

Can Texas still miss the playoffs? Man none of these teams appear to want to play in the post season.

If Jays win tomorrow, Astros go 1-1, and Seattle sweeps Tex then they’re out. Seattle in this scenario would win the division (best overall record at 14-12 vs Tex/Hou), Astros get WC3 (13-13 record), and Texas gets eliminated (12-14 record).

I’m sure the Rangers want this win and probably even tomorrow too (if Astros win tonight) for the bye.
