Major League Baseball is a business, and none of us are naive to that. There was a belief the Blue Jays had been shopping Bass — who in recent days also expressed interest in leaving the organization, where he no longer felt he could perform, according to a major-league source. The team very nearly traded him this week. Now they have 10 days to do so. If they don’t, he will be released and free to sign elsewhere.

I've been thinking about what we do if we are in this same position come the deadline. I know we'll end up adding to the roster for a post season push but it really feels like this is a team you sell with. I guess the question is would you be more inclined to sell or buy being the bottom seed of the wild card

Yeah I was gonna say the Jays probably made that cut based more on a baseball decision.

Chad Green is on his way back at some point. As is Zach Pop. And then Ryu probably moving into the pen once he's cleared.

It's literally a nothing cut.
Have they given any updates on Ryu for eta? He would be a welcome Manoah replacement if he can get extended in time. I haven't even heard if he's throwing at all.

Orelvis just hit a homer. I think he gets promoted in a few weeks or so.

His power is there but he's still hitting under .200. Maybe with this latest little run he's over but his numbers are still not great but that power is true

He’s hitting over .200 and since may 1st he’s hitting over .270

Try and get gabriel moreno from arizona. Throws out runners and can hit. Hard to find catchers that can do both.

WTF are you talking about? You would sell with a bunch of free agents and young guys about to exit another year until free agency? Dude this franchise is about to throw the kitchen sink out the window to win because they all seen what happened to Dubas. Atkins isn’t new to this job. He hasn’t gotten this team anywhere close to expectations…. You really think they will sell LOL

This team better get a bullpen and some bats because you ain’t winning shit just waiting for Vladdy and Bo to do something

Is there any Blue Jay fan left on the planet who has any respect left for Atkins? To double-down on Mitch White, he of the 10.00 ERA in AAA, and reward him by calling him up virtually over anyone else in the system, is mindboggling. And of course, Schneider brings him into a game where the Jays were only a few runs down and the expected happens. Not impressed.

Hated the trade at the time and hate more so now. However, he had to be called up or DFA,d and I’d rather them give him a shot to see if he can be somewhat decent rather than lose him for nothing.

He’s had his shot. He hasn’t earned another shot.

0-5 last season with a 7.74 ERA. 10.80 ERA this season. A career 3-10 record with a 4.85 ERA and a -1.1 WAR. He throws slop out there.

Like you I hated the trade at the time and even more so now.

Had a shot as a starter not a reliever. I don’t agree with all that much but can see the reason.
