I'm sure that people are going to say this has to do with the recent sideshow (and it probably does to some extent) but it shouldn't distract from the fact that he could be argued to be the worst regular arm in the pen now. Yes, worse than Garcia is doing from one perspective.
Hopefully, someone will offer a like arm in exchange.

Standard reminder warning that we're not going down the Bass rabbit hole of socio-political arguments again. Keep it on topic. Referencing what happened with Bass is fine but no soapboxing or editorializing. EDIT: "slapping" was supposed to be soapboxing. I have no idea what autocorrect was thinking there.

The team was obviously trying to work through this with Bass so for this to happen now it’s obviously worse behind the scenes.

Bass was effective in May though and it’s hard to see Mitch White as an upgrade.

They were playing around with White in the minors and I don't think he was able to get into a groove moving from starting to relief. Last two appearances have been much better and he's shown his value in the past as a longman in the pen for the Dodgers. Give the guy a chance rather than hold Bass for a once in a blue moon appearance.

Plus for those that think he's starting, I can't see that happening right now. Bowden has consistently started whereas White went back into relief recently.

I don’t think White will be starting any games right now, or pitching meaningful innings. More like if we are getting blown out, he will get some mop up duty to save bullpen arms. I expect Bowden Francis to start tomorrow, or at least follow an opener.

White is more likely to turn it around. If he doesn’t there’s more arms in the minors who could replace him.

Like what arms in the minors? The jays pitching prospect cupboard outside of Tiedemann is bare.

White's minor league ERA in Buffalo this season is 10.07 and in Toronto it was 7.74!

The guy should be released. He throws junk without control. There's little upside here.

It is also possible that it's partially a baseball decision. White had to come off the DL and that meant someone had to get the boot. Bass had been garbage and the fact that he was also embroiled in controversy might've been a tiebreaker over guys with less talent but who weren't offering a distraction. I'm not saying it wasn't because of everything that happened but it's easy to see a path where it wasn't the sole or even the driving factor.
