Jays are top 10 in most offensive categories
His last two years have been so good.I hope the Jays don't trade Leo Jimenez. I think he has sneaky upside at the MLB level along the lines of other high contact infielders who benefitted from the new baseballs.
I saw a tweet where it showed the difference in his hand position and stance compared to last year. They changed a few things around and it's not working obviously.not to rehash the Varsho argument (I'm definitely a believer in his value as a starting player) but it is incredibly frustrating that in a division built for left handed power hitters, his barrels have severely decreased from last season.
I don't care if the K% goes up, I don't care if he hits a boatload of flyouts, but I would love to see him just focus on ripping the ball in the air to right field as much as humanly possible.
Chapman is toxic. Plus the consensus was he was toast. Good for him for turning it around. He's still a douche and I want him as far from this team as possible.Hilarious they didn’t seem to know Aroldis Chapman was on the market. Out to lunch.
Go big or go home. They have a couple more years of control on Bo and Vladdy yet they walk on egg shells when it comes to actually improving the team. Go get Ohtani! Chapman would have been huge especially the way Romano is crapping his pants.
Bring back Anthropolous. He has set of balls unlike Shapiro. And Gibby for that matter. Schneider is out of his depth. I’d take Cito at this point. Team is flatter than piss on a plate.
I think we'll see White DFA'd (someone has to go to make room on the 40-man anyway) and a 6-man rotation.Next week probably see manoah sen t back down and ryu taking his spot. Hopefully pearson and manoah can figure it out soon. Dont have much to choose from in the minors to call up
Doing some napkin analysis here but writing it out is a tad therapeutic. I wanted to go through the lineup and compare their offensive output to their general preseason expectations.
George: Below Expectations
Bo: Met Expectations
Vladdy: Below Expectations
Belt: Exceeded Expectations
Chapman: Met? You could argue exceeded
Whit: Met Expectations
Varsho: Below Expectations
Kiermaier: Exceeded Expectations
Kirk: Below Expectations
Jansen: It's tough but i'd say met.
That's 2.5 Exceededs (none of which are signed past this season), 3ish Mets, and 4 belows (does not include the Biggio and Espinal bench duo, who both are once again below)
Does this mean anything? No. I think this is probably what to look at if you're asking yourself why the fanbase is so upset even if the offensive metrics as a whole are good. When your core guys in Vladdy, Kirk, and Springer all underperform, rentals like Belt and Kiermaier overperforming isnt going to appease the fanbase. The casuals can be annoying but they have a right to be a little ticked off.

Outside of HR Springer is not really below expectation. A little bit below in RBIs but not by much. He'll be 34 soon i mean you should not really expect a career year at this point of his career. He's more likely to be slightly below expection in the upcoming years.
As for Varsho he's definitely below the insane expection sold by the media and this board but if you look at his career he's not really below at all. People expected progress since it's only his 4th season but it did not happen so far sadly.
Not sure i'd say Belt and Chapman exceeded expectation. Chapman is pretty much right in line with what you should expect from him. Little bit less HR than usual maybe but not by much. Belt is getting on base slightly more than usual but at the cost of power. He's always been a guy getting on base with BB. His lack of power is actually disappointing imo. But to be fair he only has one 20HR season in career so ...
