With the Canucks missing Miller and Demko, and with it being a contract year, I do worry that Brock will want to return to the lineup as soon as possible, whereas I would feel more comfortable if he took a bit more conservative approach.
The team doctors allowed him to fly so his symptoms must have been clear for more than the time he had them. Rule of thumb, one clear day for every day of symptoms and flying can/does extend or worsen a concussion.
Subliminal messages, outside pressure as you posted those can have a player hiding some of the more minor symptoms to get back earlier.
Everything you mentioned would urge a competitive athlete in a contract year to get back on the ice earlier or as quick as possible and maybe even add a little leverage in contract negotiations, "he took one for the team" stuff.
He should not return early some players have in the past and shortened or curtailed their careers. Crosby got his bell wrung and came back ASAP then had to take most of year off to get right.
For the team silent pressure could/would be the standings, 3 more losses could put the Canucks pretty much out of a playoff race, say they go 4 losses in 6 games so the pressure might be rising and the team's management urging need not be applied. But taking him along too soon or when marginally totally healed could be unintended pressure to get in the line up sooner, or not unintended. They might not have to say anything, sort of "Don't ask, don't tell" and then rely on the natural desire to not let down whomever.
Even innocent comments by Tocchet, "maybe next game, we will see how HE feels" might make the player feel more responsible to return earlier or just flying him with the team.
Hope he is okay.
BUT I don't think he is worth 8+ million a season. The core is stale.
