Never knew I wanted him until now. Despite his elf name ... I think that Kadriel is more like a dwarf / barbarian who goes berserk from time to time, especially during the Age of the playoffs. But give me Kadriel anyway, haha! :DD
Just realized I can "like" comments again.

Score!
Dwarf barbarian. Like the sound of that too.

Good job, dude! I wish you to have many positive occasions for liking stuff and happiness in general! We all need happiness and the Leafs don't really seem to be bringing it. Anyway looking forward to the game tonight .. maybe they mange to win against the Pens.

I wonder how Dubas must feel now after he claimed, after yet another first round exit, that he still believes in this group and how do they thank for his support? Start the season like this.

It's the same players making the same mistakes as they do every year but with a different supporting cast. While Hutch's softies just killed any motivation the Leafs had at winning the game, plays like Matthews braincramp to pull a blind 180 pass to clear the zone were just as big of a problem.

I know it's early and it's certain they will be better, but to come out of the gate with only one really solid 60-minute effort in 5 games - and 5 games against teams they should be 5-0 against - is disheartening but entirely expected.

Some of us have floated that the Habs stole their soul last summer, but the loss I think stole some of the fanbase's soul as well. Honestly, I have so little enthusiasm watching this team right now, even if they had a better start. Primarily, because we've been fooled before but also because I am seeing a team, from the President down to the coaching staff and players, that seem to believe that if they keep doing the same thing over and over and over and over, they'll get a different result.

And by same thing I mean filling out the roster with question marks and budget deals due to the Big 4, too many unforced errors incl. ill-advised dangles and (often blind) long distance east-west breakout passes, players not named McDavid trying to pull a McDavid and deke 2-5 defenders, and so on.

Oh, and the genius of thinking Marner - the best passer and worst shot on the pp - in the bumper position on the PP would be a good idea.

I thought Kyle Dubas had a good rational trade deadline last year at the time, the expansion draft was a little bit too galaxy brain and his overall offseason was pretty decent, which looked okay in pre-season, like we were getting a good middle of the roster, sprinkle in a refreshed core and away we go... The trade deadline didn't work out and it looks like maybe half of his offseason might be duds.

Kind of see a pattern where you can see a good strategic thought process going into these moves but they're not panning out. So maybe the ideas are right but the pro scouting is not delivering good intel. Aka why were they ever worried about losing Kerfoot?

But overall I kind of empathize for a guy who is staking his career and vision on a core group that just doesn't really work.

I don't. He's been steadfast in his belief of his vision the whole time, especially when it comes to Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander. Not saying moving one of those guys would have been the right move, but to not ever consider it after several failures is.. puzzling, to put it mildly.

Hyman already has 5 goals.

The leafs three 11 mil players collectively have 1 goal.

There is something very very wrong with this organization.

Don't worry, after Hyman, Rielly will be gone after this season for nothing...and if Dubas is still around, he'll be proud to fill around the margins of the core 4 with a lesser d man as a replacement. How is Ritchie doing? :sarcasm:

If they lose tonight to a pens team without Crosby, Malkin , Carter, Rust, Letang, this place is gonna be worse than the dark web lol

Definitely agree with you there. I think that series finally shattered what was left of the personal belief they had in each other as a group. They look broken and when a game isn’t going their way, they’re more than OK with just laying down and giving up. It’s like if we can’t score the way we want, we’re just gonna give up playing and hope next game you let us play our style. This core looks done and I don’t think for a second they actually believe in each other anymore and it shows with their garbage play on the ice.

FWIW

Jared McCann leads the Seattle Kraken in scoring with 3 goals 2 assists and 5 points in 5 games.

He would lead the Leafs in goals and tied in points. I personally thought it was a mistake not to protect him.

McCann might look good beside Matthews and Marner trying to replace Hyman, as the Ritchie experiment is not going all that well. IMO

John Tavares contract has 3 years left after this year. Holy he's gonna be such a bad contract those last 2 years

Hopefully leafs can achieve something in the playoffs with him being a contributing player otherwise JT contract going to be an all time bad UFA signing. Destroyed our team

Dubas is the first GM of all of them to:

1. Not saddle us with any bad contracts whatsoever.
2. Make multiple legit top-end adds (Tavares, Muzzin, Brodie).
3. Give us one of the better prospect pools in hockey, even without any top-end picks.

Very refreshing to finally have a good GM in charge.
Finally have a "good" gm and he cant even build a team that can get into the 2nd round. Very Leafy.
