Sandin and Robertson aren't NHL ready, lilijgren is.

Most teams do have similar prospects, but most contending teams don't

Tampa has actually done a good job of drafting and developing and using their resources so it’ll be interesting to see how their new guys plug in and perform.

Just more evidence of how ridiculous the Leafs are with asset management. Losing Brooks to a division rival. Not even one game into this season and Dubas f*cks up again for Amadio who is mediocre at best.

Same age, amadio way better ppg and more NHL game experience by a considerable amount.

I like Brooks, and hate Montreal, but hard to complain about losing a 25 year old tweener.

Brooks (25, #92 '16, 5'10/180): NHL 20gm, .40ppg, -0.5xgfrel -- AHL 197gm, .54ppg
Amadio (25, #90 '14, 6'1/205): NHL 174gm, .24ppg, +2.3xgfrel - AHL 150gm, .77ppg

So where are you getting this fantasy from?

first of all your probably 1 of maybe 5 people that think brooks is better than amadio .
second, other gms are clearly smarter than you .. why would they trade for a 4th line player when there are dozens available on the waiver wire for free ?
you think brooks is that hot of a commodity ? lol

There's no hidden trick to avoid the waiver wire....

The Leafs had an excess number of bodies, ultimately somebody had to be cut, and they lost a guy cut from a 4th line role. Not exactly earth shattering

I was really impressed with SDA and Semyonov in the preseason. SDA needs to gain strength but he looks to be a potential top 6 winger.

I think Toronto also suffers from high profile media exposure. Brooks is a fine player, but I bet you could hide him a bit better from league wide attention if he's a good 14th forward at Blue Jackets camp. So often that Leaf camp garbage gets claimed and I think it just happens to be because they have a game on Sportsnet someone happens to have on TV.

Anything Leafs definitely gets amplified x100 (just look at Twitter engagement of the Brooks news vs any other waiver news recently).

I didn't mind Brooks, but fact is he hadn't even cemented himself as a replacement level 4th liner yet.

Honestly, I would have grabbed Alex Barre-Boulet and cut Brooks loose if we could have made that claim. No biggie. But just seems like one of those annoying Marc Bergevin kind of things. I knew he was going to claim a Leaf but thought it would be Menell.

The longer Dubas is around, the more we see how terrible of a talent evaluator he is.
McCann would look much nicer on a top 6 role than Ritchie and all he would have cost was 440,000 of cap hit. Seattle would have had to take either Holl or Dermott and the forward group would look so much better. Lillegren is at the point where the Leafs should either play him or move him but they refuse to put him in. Mrazek was not really needed for nearly 4 million/year if Campbell is going to be the starter and now Campbell’s play is going to price him out of what the Leafs will be able to pay.
I am dumbfounded by the support that a good portion of the Leafs fanbase gives Dubas. For every good move or signing he makes, there are three bad moves/signings.

With all the information we have in hindsight, it seems like the best path would have been keeping McCann for ourselves and either let them have Holl, who isn't that special, or work out a side trade where they take Kerfoot, whom they liked anyway.

Ritchie was looking good in preseason but things have not worked out in the first couple of weeks.

The Mrazek contract is awkward because if Campbell outperforms him all year how do you make Mrazek go away to pay Jack?

I really thought they would have a trade with Seattle involving them taking Kerfoot along with a prospect for them trading Holtby and trading him to us.
As Holtby have 2 yrs left on his contract.

The mrazek signing was bad because he’s injury prone. And Campbell is also injury prone. Your really asking for trouble with this duo. Mrazek lasted 2 periods then he got injured…2 PERIODS!!

The real question is how badly Dubas will allow Marner's value to tank before getting something for him.

Is Keefe on the hot seat?

Dubas certainly is.

Keefe lost to Columbus. Lost to Montreal.

And now has the exact same start to the season as Babcock did when he was fired. 2-2-1

I fear we're going to have to put up with this shite for a few more years first.

It’s mind boggling we have 6m in cap space allocated to Kerfoot and Ritchie combined. We couldn’t solve our 3C issue with that 6m? Certainly could’ve found a way to hang onto McCann.

The roster/asset management in the last year has been appalling. Some desperation moves (Mrazek) have crept in. It’s reminding me of the Nonis days.

Asset management has never been a strong point of the current management team.
