The Boys Of Summer
Should have been a Tom Petty song but he passed on it.

I was extremely lucky once. A friend of mine and I were in lower Manhattan and just on a whim decided to go see a movie. We were in SoHo and I just looked on my phone. A little place called Angelika popped up as having Echo in the Canyon playing. Little did we know that Jacob Dylan would come on stage after the showing and do a Q&A. It was awesome.I saw Echo in the Canyon...The movie and the 2-part series.
I will check it out. Thanks !
Great story 8...and excellent question.I was extremely lucky once. A friend of mine and I were in lower Manhattan and just on a whim decided to go see a movie. I got to ask a question -- I asked him if in talking with Brian Wilson did he feel the man was aware of the fact that he was a musical genius and just extremely humble -- or was he kind of obtuse to that fact.
Dylan said that when he's talked to Wilson he thinks it just doesn't matter to him on any level. He's fascinated and driven to create music by something beyond any aspect of personal accomplishment or ego. In other words, at this stage in his life Brian Wilson doesn't care one bit how he's viewed. He did say that competition with other bands (Beatles) was a huge driver back in the day though and that then was then, vs now being now.
Probably not a great question but I was damned if I wasn't going to raise my hand and talk to the guy.
Don't kick me out of the cab man, but I abide by the Dude.
Was more into the earlier SoCal scene where the Eagles roots were
Bernie Leadon played on and co-wrote this before joining the Eagles and bringing this along. Bernie said Gene Clark gave him a writing credit when he'd only added a guitar bridge, was how Gene was.

I did ... see my post above lol.
This is a joke, right?
What an awesome way to start my day! Never saw or met Lou (VERY sadly), but have had the great pleasure of seeing both Billy and Beck several times. Billy Bragg I once saw at the Ritz (old Studio 54), sitting next to Michael Stipe, who later played an encore with Billy and Natalie Merchant and at the H.O.R.D.E. Festival at Great Woods sometime in the late 90s, I watched Beck and Neil Young race electric trains against each other... a couple of weird sidebar memories from great shows.
Edit: this is my introduction to Courtney Barnett, but I'm going to check out more of her stuff, so thanks for that, too!
Nope. Its the Boss.I'm slow witted.
This is a joke, right?
Okay, making good on a promise (or threat, depending on your POV).
Big, big Blondie and Deborah Harry fan for several reasons. I could fill three pages of this thread with the perfect, idiosyncratic pop that was Blondie produced with a fine touch by Mike Chapman,

Deaf, Dumb & Blonde (1989). A lot of (to me) filler on that one, which was produced by former boyfriend and forever friend Chris Stein,

All of the ballads are lovely. The first single:
"Maybe For Sure,"
"Calmarie,"
"Brite Side,"
Some less than stellar lyrics, but an affecting glance back at the early days of the NY scene @ CBGB's, etc.,
Nope. Its the Boss.
I'll see if I can find it. Thank you.Beautiful...
Anyone have a chance to watch the documentary "Crosby Stills Nash & Young - 50x4" Excellent. It appears Stills feuds with everyone. lol.
Turned 54 today...This pretty much nails it for me.
Are you a "Toys R Us Kid"?
Never got into Tom Waits, though I understand many think he's great. I believe I listened to Rain Dogs once.
I only know this tune
and Rod Stewart's version of "Downtown Train," which suffers from late eighties bombast but remains a favorite,
Beck and Barnett so talented.
I saw Barnett live Lee's Palace Toronto. Small venue. It was one of her first North American tours. I spoke with her after the show. Why? She's very attractive is why. .
Courtney autographed my merch T shirt. Requested she write"I wanna grow tomatoes on the front steps Sunflowers, bean sprouts, sweet corn and radishes." For some odd reason I find it sexy the way she sings that line/lyrics.
Beck and Neil awesome!!!
Yes give Courtney a good listen. So friggin good.
Both Becks are great but my reference was to the Loser Beck.Who Beck? "I'm a Loser" Beck? Jeff Beck?
All of the shootings in the USA are getting to me
Steve Stills...Word Games
That's really the only Beck bit I know, though like Waits, he's very well thought of as a writer, producer, and, ah,Both Becks are great but my reference was to the Loser Beck.

God, you two are as bad as my brother in law.I've thought long and hard about this. Tried to be fair to all sides. At the end of the day I can only conclude that the dude does indeed abide. And like you, I have no choice but to therefore abide by the dude.
Just the way it is.
