The difference of depiction of Coruscant in Andor vs the depiction of Coruscant in the Mandalorian is stark. Andor's shots played up the brutalist architecture and made it feel like a lived-in world. This episode gave us tons of bright, neon backgrounds and CGI vistas- reminscient of the prequels more than anything else. A lot of this is the difference on shooting on practical sets vs. shooting on the volume.
Plus period of time. Andor =Empire era. Mandalorian=New Republic. Stark difference between overall atmosphere on the planet.

Not surprising that episode 3 is the lowest rated in the entire series. That shoulda just been a disney+ one off thing instead of wasting an entire episode on it.

Seems to me very obvious there will be follow up on that. Katy O'Brian seemed to hint on it on Harloff's channel:

All the Youtube reactions that I've seen so far for the episode are unanimously loving the episode, so I'm a little puzzled by the reaction. Of course Katy O'Brian might rub a certain crowd the wrong way by simply being on screen.

The intro of this episode was some of the best starfighter action I've seen. Just incredible wow. I enjoyed the middle 40 minutes or so but to me it felt kind've out of place. I hope there's more payoff with that. Is she trying to kill/wipe the doctor so only the Empire has that cloning info? I definitely saw the betrayal coming. She was clearly fattening him up (literally) with what he wanted right from the start where they re-introduced.

One interesting thing that people have already kinda touched on - they say several times that the New Republic is struggling but they are trying. There's a huge power vacuum and now the New Republic has to decide what is right and what is wrong. It's really interesting to me to see that they are still using Imperial methods they are just dumbed down to be a bit more humane. However, is it really their right to control these peoples' lives? The re-assimilation program or whatever they called it seemed pretty good from the get go but as the episode went on and on you can see how it's flawed. The New Republic's good intentions seem to be there but you have to wonder how things are really going beyond just the shown surface. This part of Star Wars is really interesting to me. Not really something I expected to see with the Mandalorian but I enjoyed it.

I think they are setting up for Mando to lead the clan. Beyond that, I have no idea what they are working toward though. Sadly, have to agree that it feels a little directionless. Hopefully that is cleared up soon. I'm guessing Moff Gideon will be back in some capacity. Really hoping they pretend the sequels didn't happen but with the cloning plot happening in both Mando and Bad Batch I really don't think that will be the case.

I did not expect that episode at all. Like the very beginning and the very end. The bulk of the episode was out of place.

Feels like it'll be either Din or Bo Katan. I would not be surprised if there's a post-credit scene after the final episode where we see Thrawn.

I've felt for some time that just like Filoni succeeded in fleshing out the prequel trilogy and making many things make sense, he and Favreau are doing the same with the sequel trilogy. Setting up the cloning aspect, showing the faults of the New Republic.

That wouldn't surprise me either. Could bring in a potential Ezra/Ahsoka connection too. I assume she will find him in her show.

And agreed on them piecing things together. I just really don't want to see the sequels get justification. They don't deserve it and I'd rather they just pretend they don't exist.

It was weird to wedge the story about the New Republic's amnesty program in between actual Mando stuff. I am assuming there will be more to Grogu and the cloning of force powers to come.

I did love that tie-fighter/Mandalorian air fight, well done for sure.

Not my favorite episode but I didn't hate it.

After the three big revolutions (American, French, Russian) the post war transition was varying degrees of wobbly.

Wow, they straight up carbon copied Paolo Cortazar from The Expanse and renamed him Pershing. Not even joking, they are the same character, they even look alike!

Cortazar:
- Lived with his mother
- Grew up on basic (Dirt poor)
- Mother developed huntingtins and eventually died from it.
- Is hinted at being neurodivergent. Is also highly intelligent
- Get's accepted into University and studies an obscure(ish) field of nanoscience
- Get's recruited by a scientific R&D company with more than a few question marks surrounding ethical boundaries (or the lack of)
- Essentially get's lobotomized in a procedure that allows him to focus entirely on work
- Works on the Protomolecule and becomes as close to an expert as humanity will ever have in the stuff.
- Get's captured by belters
- Get's freed by other belters who work for Duarte, who is 120 million percent modeled (in-part) on Thrawn

Pershing:
- Grows up with his mother
- Grows up dirt poor
- Mom dies of heart condition
- At some point goes to school and studies cloning
- Heavy hints of him being neurodivergent
- Get's recruited/conscripted into the Empire
- Is obviously brainwashed
- Works on super duper unethical cloning program
- Get's captured by The NR
- Just wants to work on his cloning
- THEORY (He is going to be working for Thrawn at some point in the near future)

That was different. The middle did feel like an Andor episode in subject and pacing. I liked exploring the operations of the New Republic shortly after the war, as I did the operations of the Empire shortly before it. The re-integration of Imperial employees was an interesting subject. Obviously, it didn't look nearly as good as Andor (very fake in comparison), and wasn't written as well, though. I saw the betrayal coming a mile away and some of the exposition (like "it's the end of the train") was unnecessary. Still, I found it a little more interesting than the Mando parts and wouldn't have minded a whole series along those lines, but it did feel quite out of place in The Mandalorian, much like those Mando episodes did in The Book of Boba Fett.

I'm enjoying this season still. The combat sequences, especially the space battles, have been top notch. It's a TV show about a helmeted space goon carrying a puppet around the galaxy, I don't think it's supposed to be that serious. Totally different set of expectations than I had for Andor.

I am curious to see where the Mando sect goes. Seems clear they're going to have some sort of showdown with somebody at some point. Maybe the Coruscant story was supposed to signal that Moff Gideon is still around and will show up eventually.

Hoping for Thrawn. Mando has already beaten Gideon. He's a good villain and incredible actor but I would prefer they step up to someone larger or at least start leading it that way. Maybe have Mando beat Gideon once and for all at the end of the season and then show one of Gideon's underlings contacting Thrawn to end the season and have Thrawn be the villain for season 4/5.
