GDT: The Four Nations Tournament Thread

Cirelli over Scheifele feels like a miss. Even if you wanted toughness you'd might as well go full throttle with Tom Wilson.

Tough to blame the D given the absences but Doughty just came back after a half season injury recovery and had struggled in LA. It's not gonna get any easier in a best-on-best competition (same can be said for Petey, I suppose).

Many within Hockey Canada are still stuck in the 2000s. Them bringing in Dave Cameron for the U20s and assembling a low event squad was a perfect example of this.

Could care less if they drop the next game. You really hope they clue in and realize what they need to do for the Olympics. I already saw dinosaurs from within ruin a tournament with obviously shitty choices (2006). No need to see it again.

Point should be up
Marchand can rotate up and down
Marner can go down if he wants to play like that he can float for 7 mins instead

Jarvis needs more ice
 
Pretty even game overall.

USA did a solid job of locking it down in the third, there was almost no room to skate.

Going to have to get lucky on Hellebuyck. Also need the top players to step up their game. MacKinnon and Marner have both been disappointing. McDavid with an amazing rush on the first goal, but other than that, he has been suffocated. Crosby looked his age for the first time in a Canadian sweater.

Slavin had an excellent game, best defender on the ice by a mile.

Hopefully this motivates them for a rematch in the final.

Would have been nice to see Celebrini and Bedard given an audition here. Celebrini, IMO, may not even look too out of place.

Defense is a bit concerning as none of Bryam/Drysdale/Power have really risen to a higher level. Harley showed pretty well today though.

It made absolutely no sense to have Doughty join the team. The guy just came back from major surgery at 35 years old! Just a stupid decision along with the goaltending choices.

I think the thing that’s the worst is we are stuck with Binner the whole way now. I did not expect to lose 3-1. I did not expect 3 fights right off the bat.

I love this sport. Even when you’re right, you can still also be wrong.
