Lots to talk about in this game, both good and bad, but it really came down to sivington. I thought both goals he should have had, that first one was uglier and the second goes just right through him.
We scored one goal. He did his job. A team with mcdavid Crosby and MacKinnon has to generate more than one goal that came off a solo rush. Our power play lost us this game.

Despite the loss, that was an entertaining game. Best news if you’re Canada is USA didn’t look like an unstoppable juggernaut - but rather a team that the game could go either way between these two.

Worst news is, as expected, our goaltending. It was all the difference in this game. Although another game where we tapered off after a strong start is a concern.

That was as physical a game as I’ve seen. Man.

Canada needs to not look past Finland, and take care of business, so they get the opportunity for a rematch with the USA.

Problem with athletes of this caliber is more often overtraining.

He does need to make sure his people are top of the line tho. This issue should be fixable with in a summer of effective training. Asuming his knee is healthy going in to the summer.
How we do get him your resume? Seriously that would be a dream come true.

Games like that are why you pay for a Brady. In the playoffs the size, speed, skill and aggression tilt the ice in ways we Canucks fans are not used to.

He would be great for our team but I believe he wants to head to the US to play if he’s traded.

I feel a lot of players want to play in the US these days.

While I understand that this is an exhibition tournament and that the league wants to minimize the risk to players, I still hate that many games have been decided with 3v3 OT.

I also get that the players don't care and don't want to knock themselves out with 2 or 3 OT periods and have said as much, and I get that sports has an element of randomness anyways. But 3v3 OT and shootouts are very close to coin tosses and I have never thought they belonged in international tournaments.

Last night was the first time I did not watch a full Men’s game or really care about the outcome. It just doesn’t seem as novel or special anymore when you see all the players all the time. Seems like a regular game now.
Wow, totally disagree. Last night was an incredible game and I watched the entire game. I am proud of the team, had a great effort and it was a close game.

Canucks games, on the other hand, have been difficult to get through this year. So incredibly low event.

Canadas line combos are odd, hopefully they go for something else with McDavid, Mackinnon and Crosby centering their own lines.

Konecny McDavid Point

Jarvis Mackinnon Reinhart

Marchand Crosby Stone

Hagel Bennett Marner

Marner on the fourth is odd, though I think he would be better off running his own line with some physical players that can open up a bit more time and space for him.

What happened last night absolutely transcended Hockey, how amazing is that, absolutely viral everywhere around the world, especially the USA.

From major celebrities, politicians, news networks like Fox News, and CNN talking about it, it’s wild.

This is so good for Hockey

Even JD Roberts? I refuse to call him by the name he goes by now. I keep thinking JD Roberts is going to read off the "Pepsi Power Hour" on any news broadcast he does on Faux News. I doubt your parents even met when he was a "VJ" on Muchmusic.:sarcasm:

The notion that Canadians are being disrespectful by booing representatives of a country threatening to annex them is one of those moments where it's clear no one has to actually believe a statement makes any sense to say it anymore if it fits or coheres with a larger collection of ideas they share with others.

Meh, I can remember the ‘72 series and have watched every one since. I guess it is just fatigue on my part. Hopefully it will pass by the Olympics, I am sure it will.

Should Canada score more… sure especially with their players, but they played well enough defensively that in a 2-1 game with both goals being bad goals… yeah the difference is goaltending

Yeah, but they want a non-shootout result.
Thus, 3v3 is way higher chance of getting that than 4v4.

So, basically, Can and Fin have an OT win and 1 reg L while SWE has 2 OTL. All tied with 2 points, while US has 2 reg W for 6, so they are locked into the finals as the "home team".

Basically SWE needs to win in Reg while Can/Fin go into extra time to make the finals. As the tie breaker between 2 teams is H2H points earned between the 2 nations. SWE would lose both to either Can/Fin.

Can/Fin, win in reg and they are in regardless. OTW, then can't have SWE win in Reg.
Can/Fin play first, so SWE will know its fate before puck drop, whether they still have a chance or not.

Paul Henderson wasn't just the "hero" in that series (granted he did end up scoring the important goals). Tony "O" held the fort as the Russian figured out Ken Dryden. They couldn't figure out "O" has he had his own unique "style"

Crosby is hurting and can run a line
Nevermind that line is too slow

Hagel and bennet should be lws with mcdavid and mackinnon and crosby and point the RWs

Amen brother. I try not to watch American news since it’s basically been propaganda the last 20 years, but glad to hear they are finally taking the best sport in the world seriously.

They just need to remember why you shouldn’t f*** with Canadians. Put a twig in our hands and our glowing hearts become pure inferno.

Switch Jarvis and Hagel and I like it much better.

McJesus needs to be rethinking his approach. He needs to pass more or at least stop trying to play at 100 miles an hour.

The problem I am seeing(I am in the US right now) is that the US media is picking up the booing but not explaining WHY we are upset. I was talking with a couple of guys from the US delegation and they were slightly unaware of things that a certain person has said(No politics) and due to how they gather their news they were unaware of certain things

That’s fair. Us millennials are starved for this. 2002 was the year I saw what hockey does for Canadians. The game owes us nothing, we owe it everything.

Anyone wants to get behind Trump, I’ll drive you to the border and drop you off personally. Canada first.

Love the ironing Bobby, given your follow up GM'ing. (reading your comment again, I can't tell if you were being serious. heh. Sorry if I got this wrong)

We had this very player, except a more rounded version who quit on the team and forced a trade to his preferred destination to the south. Something Brady's older brother did a couple of seasons ago as well.

He would be great for our team but I believe he wants to head to the US to play if he’s traded.

Yep, you've hit the nail on the head with this one. Players now more than ever have leverage to go where they'd like, and they're clearly targeting the US over Canada. Don't like your situation? Let the club know in advance so they can do their best to recoup some value, or sign a long term contract and then destroy the team with shit behavior while undermining the coaches authority. Giddyup
