While I’m excited about this as a Jets fan the talk about the Jets playing hardball on the trade compensation turned out to be joke.

Green Bay got a nice haul here but I’m ok with it. Too bad it was necessitated by them shitting the bed on the Zach Wilson pick. If not for that pick though, the Jets have drafted remarkably well lately.

greenbay essentially got two second rounders that may change to a second and a first. Doesn’t really sound like a haul to me.

I think we’re both splitting hairs here but one of those second rounders is very likely going to convert to a first. Swapping first round picks this year also equates to maybe another third rounder? Just guessing on that one.

My main point was that the Jets were reportedly playing hardball by not wanting to give up a first. The final deal almost certainly will include exactly that.

Douglas also didn’t do himself any favors saying the deal would get done before an agreement was made.

I agree the Jets gave up a lot. I certainly hope AR plays at least 2 seasons. As a long time Jets fan if AR gives us a SB then retires it will be worth every pick.

I wonder if I am the only Jets fan that is not in love with Aaron Rogers?
Disastrous drafting in the early rounds led to this. Rogers will be 40 in December and is not getting better with age. I get it, it had to be done and I hope they win, but I see his along with all the mistakes made as this being Joe Douglas’ final undoing and starting all over again in 2024.

God I hope I am wrong.

I feel the same way, and the Jets have problems at offensive tackle. A lot of those problems are easier to deal with if Breece Hall is 100% (his complete skillset can makes the offense very unpredictable), but that would be true with any decent NFL quarterback.

Rodgers is going to have to adjust his behavior. It'll be fine if he's winning, but if he faces adversity, his "The Dude" act will not go over well. Hopefully he's not going to devolve into Favre.

This is a high-risk, low-reward situation for Rodgers (at least in terms of his reputation/legacy, obviously financially he's getting paid). Unless he takes the Jets to the Superbowl, it will be seen as a failure. And can this team really beat the Bills, Bengals, Chiefs? He comes with a lot of baggage, if he struggles, NY fans and media will not show any mercy.

I agree with your general points (bolded), but I think Jets fans understand that there are plenty of ways the Jets could fail (lol, what haven't we seen?) without it being Rodgers' fault.

Ha! This is true.

But can you imagine if they start out at like 1-4 with Rodgers throwing interceptions all over the place? It would get so ugly.

Most talented Jets quarterback ever.

I think immediately penciling the Jets in as Super Bowl contenders is crazy talk. They haven't made the playoffs in 12 years and now they're a top 5 team?

You would assume that Rodgers can lift the Jets to at least double digit wins which moves the 2024 1st to the 20's. As long as Rodgers plays in 2024, this is a great trade.

You've kept a 1st and 2nd in 2023 to help Rodgers right away.

Most talented after Namath.

So I’m a Mets and Jets fan. I’m old enough to have seen the 1969-1970 Mets and Jets championships. I was young at the time and thought this would be a regular thing. With age I’ve come to know just how precious those championships are. So would I trade a 1st and a 2nd for another SB? You bet I would! Is AR a guarantee? Of course not but I like the odds.

This is all going to come down to Becton. which is almost certainly bad. They'll probably find him sleeping under a bridge in a couple of years.

So the Jets go to Belmont to support the Islanders. Except for Rodgers who chooses to take in a Ranger game at MSG. :eyeroll:

Can our owners entice Howie Roseman to take on the Isles' GM position?

I am dumbfounded that NFL GMs seem to constantly help Howie out, either blatantly getting ripped off (see the Saints and their dealings with Howie), or they just give him sweetheart deals like AJ Brown, D'Andre Swift, etc. Mindboggling. Usually top teams need to pay a slight "tax" on trades, but not the Iggles apparently.

Jets vs. Giants rumored to be Sun, Oct. 29th

Bills @ Jets MNF Sept. 11th

Phins @ Jets Black Friday at 3PM is pretty cool as well.
Isn’t there a mall right next to met life? That Black Friday game will not be cool at all. Unless you love sitting in traffic.
