You guys think he gets the net again tomorrow?
Honestly I’m suspecting this will turn out to be a mental issue, his head hasn’t been right for 2 years now.So he is out again with what the team is calling a "lingering illness"
I know he just got over COVID, and I hope he's not having long term side affects from it.

If Elvis is waived and no one bites why not? Saves money that can be used to re-sign Korpi if that is what is desired and gives an opportunity to see what Tarasov can do as full time backup. Or do you double down on Elvis and risk him not fixing his issues?
I'd rather try swapping him for another goalie underperforming his deal. The hangover on that buyout is too long. We want to be a contending team then and don't really need the cap savings now.
Petersen, Grubauer, and Demko get mentioned a lot, but what about Campbell?
Cleveland is exactly where he needs to go though. If they waiver him and then assign him to Cleveland once he clears and he refuses to go, that's grounds for mutual contract termination, right? That'd be a MacLean level sleazeball move though lol
He refused to play there when he signed near the end of season to get acclimated to the NA game, I highly doubt he'd be down with going as he believes it's beneath him, even though that's where he needs to be, as you sayCleveland is exactly where he needs to go though.
I don't disagree with you. That is what would likely happen. The most we can hope for is a "hockey trade" of two underperforming goalies who need a change of venue. He refused to play there when he signed near the end of season to get acclimated to the NA game, I highly doubt he'd be down with going as he believes it's beneath him, even though that's where he needs to be, as you say
I'm just throwing darts here but that might have been a money move for him. There's obviously a huge difference between playing a month of the season at a pro-rated $825k NHL salary versus $70k AHL salary. He refused to play there when he signed near the end of season to get acclimated to the NA game, I highly doubt he'd be down with going as he believes it's beneath him, even though that's where he needs to be, as you say
would you want to be the GM that waives him, watches him not report so you terminate his contract, then see another team take a chance that he finds his game on a show-me contract, then see him get back to above league average goalie on another team?
Honestly , all the talk of Elvis being waved , or traded , have almost zero chance of happening .They liked him enough to sign him long term, and a traumatic event , coupled with pretty bad team defense , have seen a pretty miserable season for him thus far . I think it’s far more likely Manny is let go , as well as they bring in a well respected defensive coach to work with the defenseman .That would be great for us. I don't understand why people worry about our bad fit players becoming great fit players elsewhere. If they do well, good for them.
In any case, we're making way too much out of this idea that Elvis wouldn't report. It's his job and he'll probably go to the AHL and expect to rebound and force his way back up. Might be good for him.

I don’t think they have any interest in trading him . They realize what he’s went thru … Not criticizing Texier, but he felt he needed to leave the team, and they’ve been supportive, Elvis has tried to gut it out , remain with the team ..and I don’t think he would want to be traded .You act like the team would be doing something bad to him by trading him. I wouldn't be surprised if he already has a trade request in. The guy has had PTSD effects when the cannon goes off. The worst defense in the league in front of him. Acts out regularly. You think this guy would be upset with a trade?

The body language reflects deep unhappiness. I think there's a good chance that Elvis does want a fresh start elsewhere and since we do realize what he's been through we should see if that can be accommodated.
Just bracing myself for the incoming rant
Korpisalo is the better goalie
At least you're predictable
Really miss the condescending “agent” or “family” comments. It’s almost as if I know more about hockey than essentially all of you.The only one making a fuss on here is Korpi's agent, everyone else that has eyes can see we signed the right goalie.
Guess I should have said a year or 2. Ahead of my time on the 5 goal MerzlikinsHolla at ya boy when Korpisalo is starting (is “the starter”) in a week or 2.
5 years, 27 million??
More like 5 goals against, 27 shots.
TOSup?
Cal Peterson has been about as bad as Elvis this season (much smaller sample size) and was a sub-.900 goalie last year. He's on the hook for $5m against the cap through '24-'25 (two full seasons after this one). He was waived and not a single team claimed him.
Elvis counts $5.4m against the cap through '26-'27 (four full seasons after this one). At the moment, it's right up there with Gudbranson as Jarmo's worst contract. His contract is one-way, so even to waive him and put him in the minors would cost $5m+ in salary still.
If you want to move Elvis to another team, you're going to have to add an asset or take back a near-equally bad contract.
You’ve clearly been wrong about plenty regarding Elvis. We aren't buying out elvis
