I just finished FF XV. Very impressed with the entire game and story. Probably close to being in my top 5. Shame Ail you don't give the newer ones a try. I was skeptical at first but they really try and keep the classics alive in the newer ones. I mean to a certain degree of course.

I see they have a remastered X and X-2 on steam right now. I think I am going to pick them up and start there.

New Zelda looks like a mix of Wind Waker and GTA to me. Torn about getting a console (probably a PS4) but probably won't since my PC is in line for an upgrade after a decade of good work.

For those of you that enjoyed FF15, what other FFs have you played? Did you enjoy the combat and magic systems in 15? I've never been so bored with an RPG, let alone a FF, in my life as I have with 15. Maybe it's because I keep getting distracted by the 15000 side quests and after about 30 hours (about half of which is just traveling from quest to quest to quest to fishing hole to quest) am still on chapter 2 or 3 or something. The characters are just god awful and lifeless which is one of my bigger peeves with the game. Don't like that you get the only party you'll ever have in the game right off the bat. And yea the combat is just mind-numbingly boring and unnecessarily chaotic.

FF15 was so-so at best in my opinion. It's a step up from 13, but pretty bland compared to the older ones. I've played all of them from 6 through 15, except the MMO ones. I thought the combat was repetitive and boring in FF15, and magic was almost a non-factor when compared to games past. The story was subpar too imho. I didn't really like any of the main characters too much, and the bad guys were dull. and you're right! It's part of the fun of old games meeting new party members and juggling them in and out of the lineup... but here, the only ones you'll ever get are the ones you start with. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I thought FF15 was good. I am still playing it now for all the side-quests, I have hours to go still, so it's been fun, but I understand how the battle system can be chaotic, took me a long time to figure out how to use all the different abilities. The side-quests are fun but think their timing during the main quest plot-line gets you very distracted. Lets just say, I faced the final boss with my characters close to Level 80, lol, was pretty easy to beat the game, but some of the side-quests are very hard and have yet to do the deeper dungeon/Menace challenges, just got the key now.

Is it my favorite FF? No but it is up there. If I were to rank my Top 5 favorites, would likely be..

FF 8
FF 6 (III in the US)
FF 10
FF 4 (II in the US)
FF 12

FF 15 would be close to FF 12, but 12 had something special to it, that made it one of my top 5 favorites. Probably the hunts, and I liked the characters a lot also. My least favorite was probably 13. Found the plot very confusing and characters were meh.

To me it's not fair to put 4/6 in my top 5 and not include 5 because it has just as good of a story, chatacters, music and the job system is amazing. Seven is overrated but was still a great game and set the standard for 8, 9, and X.

I like the first 3 but can't give them a top-5 spot on anything other than nostalgia.

If X is as good as billed it could bump 9, but my top4 will never change.

I have played I, VI, VII, VIII, IX (part of it, didn't like it), X, XII (part of it, got bored), Tactics.

I enjoy XV a lot. Although, your issues with the game aren't that much different than mine. I thought the story was so-so and I hate that you only get 4 characters and thats it. To me, I enjoy getting new characters, sometimes that you didn't expect.

I think it is a lot of fun, they did miss on a few things though.

Ail-- Definitely grab the remaster. Totally worth it. Especially as now you get to fight the Dark Aeons & Penance.

That's a good list. Cool that you have 4 and 6 in there. Loved those.

X was the first FF where you can hear the characters talk and have a better feel for their personalities. I loved the story and the replay value is way up there for me. It's in my top 3 for a reason. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I like the idea of side-quests in these games, X had some nice ones, and loved the hunts in 12, but 15 although I liked it really took a lot from the story the side-quests. They distracted you from the main plot-line and threw a lot of them in there anytime you are about to advance the story.

Been playing through KOTOR I during my free time recently. This is up there as one of the best RPGs I've ever played (Elder Scrolls Morrowind is #1). I've already finished a light-side run through. I've started my dark-side run, but, man... even in a video game, I'm having a really hard time being an ass to NPCs

I'd be a very boring person to go to Westworld with

I'm the same way, the worst alignment I ever usually play is chaotic good. I think joining the Dark Brotherhood in ES: Oblivion was the most evil any character I've ever played has been, and really that's not too bad. I do steal stuff in games a lot though because it makes affording gear so much easier.

I got the switch. Only have 1 game for now (Zelda) but it is a real drain on the battery and doesn't last through my commute. Does anyone have any suggestions about a battery charger for it?

been a hell of a start for video games this year

zelda, horizon zero dawn, nier, persona 5 (lol xbox owners). more great games coming down the pipeline as well.

I used to play DOTA 2 but have since switched to a MOBA-like game called Paragon because its x-platform and I can play with my console having friends.
