He's never been the best skater and I wonder if his smarts would still allow him to fill that void if only for this playoff run.

If you're doing that, then I think you have to keep Mitts and hope he regains his form. Bednar could alternate those guys between #2C and #3C depending on who's playing better.

If Mitts regains his form then you have a #2C and #3C for the next 2 years as well.

Still, I wonder if ROR would even agree to come back here or if Avs management would be keen on bringing him back. It's been a long time but sometimes these things can run deep.

If Soda worked under Bednar, so could ROR.

Nashville Predators
A brutally disappointing season has left Nashville in an awkward spot at this deadline. This is not a rebuild — at least not yet — so GM Barry Trotz isn’t conducting a fire sale of veterans after already moving out rental Gustav Nyquist. The Predators are listening on center Ryan O’Reilly but need to get a promising young player back in return in order to be compelled to pull the trigger on a reliable veteran with term. Trotz is more than happy to keep him. It sounds like nothing has advanced beyond tire-kicking on the former Conn Smythe Trophy winner as a result.

We definitely have the pieces be it Mitts or Ritchie.
I’m definitely one of the more pro-Cmac posters here, but if we trade a young asset of Ritchies calibre for fricking o’reilly I’d be on the “FireHisAss” train so fast lol.

For a better player or at least one thats an upgrade that isn’t 100 years old, I get it. But o’reily ain’t it.

Thankfully I think that never happens.

There is fkn 27 of them lol

The entire world wants it to happen but Crosby and Pittsburgh fans.
Crosby probably wants it too, but that whole loyalty thing is in his way. I mean why wouldn’t Crosby want to compete for another cup, be in the playoffs rather than the golf course?

I'd argue that most Pittsburgh fans are OK with it at this point. I think it's just Sid that doesn't want to abandon the franchise.
Exactly this. It's about pride. If MacK plays here for 10 more years and then another team would want him for a few more years then I bet MacK would prefer to retire as an Av.

Can someone explain this to me please. I thought injured players couldn’t be traded. Was that an old rule that’s been changed? Or if the player is on IR or LTIR, then he couldn’t be traded? Because for example, Frederic is currently injured but got traded
