I keep refreshing this site half expecting to see a trade not in spite of the time but because of it

I think Yzerman has broken my brain a little bit

Was thinking the same thing. Not a peep out of the front office, any rumor has been pure speculation and really grasping at ideas that could make sense. Really no clue what happens between now and the deadline but I think anything will be a shock to me at this point.

I think Holl is available. They loved him last time...
We can get him for a 2nd rdp and he would immediately improve our top 4.

This board is all about hot take.
A week ago when we were on the hot streak, they were discussing who they would like to meet and how we match vs different teams.
Now as we lost 3, it is full panics. Sell, sell, sell. We can't make playoffs, we will be swept in round 1.
I think this notion we will get swept in round 1 so there is no point in making playoffs is the loser's attitude and will not get you anywhere.
We got destroyed by Oilers, Panthers and Avs, but we have also defeated Avs, Bruins, Panthers, Leafs. We also looked impressive in some wins like vs blues last week. We are a top 5 team at offense in the league.

I like this team and I enjoy watching them this season. I think it is too many clueless Debbie Downers and Karens on this board who determine the narrative unfortunately.

After discovering that Parayko was RHD, I've kind of moved on from Hanifin pretty quickly.

Still wallowing in that feeling that we're going to get a KH-esque "Kane and Larkin were our TD acquisitions" and then we stand pat. Every year we get ourselves convinced there will be a big trade deadline move and I think our biggest acquisition of the last 17 years has been Brad Stuart.
How could you forget the mighty David Legwand??

Doesn’t seem like a lot? Then again I’m not familiar with those prospects
They’re all kind of B level prospects that were full of.

I don’t see how we couldn’t have beat that, so I’m assuming Yzerman never showed interest in him.

Which I’m fine with,he’s going to get a massive contract and has injury history

I never wanted Guentzel, and I think the rest of the league was wary that his stats have been propped up by Crosby and Malkin.

Guentzel would not have moved the needle for us. Detroit needed a C and a top-4 D to have noticable improvement.

I think Guentzel wouldn’t agree to an extension with any team so I’m happy we didn’t pay assets for a rental.

The return doesn’t even have a guarenteed 1st lmao terrible job by dubas

Awful for Carolina as compared to other trades made. Bunting is quite serviceable, 1st is a 1st, and Ponomarev and is a good prospect.

Especially, taking into account that no one knows how good Guentzel is - he never played with someone worse than a generational center...

Wow that Guentzel return is really bad/underwhelming. Dubas not great at trades it would seem.

The 1st is conditional on them making the finals though, so best case scenario it’s 31st overall. Otherwise it’s a 2nd

It is a cond. 1st based on Carolina making the Stanley Cup Final which is a 1 in 16 shot. So only a guaranteed 2nd. Guentzel was one of the biggest pieces available at this deadline and Adam Henrique even returned a 1st, though that was Holland, so it doesn't say much. The prospects all seem mid to lowish.

Cannot remember a buyers market like this at the TDL. Most of the prices are pretty low imo. Which will make me a little disappointed, if we really stand pat. Small improvements were to be had for little cost.

Cat - JT - Kane
Duclair - Wennberg - Raymond
Moose - Copp - Sprong
Fabbri - Veleno - Perron
Fischer

For a 2nd and a 3rd this coulda been our lineup tonight instead of what we'd be icing

Isnt that like 6.5 til he is 38?
36, he's already 2 years into it.

I wouldn't be thrilled with Parayko and his term, but in all honesty there are few better options out there to shore up our 2nd pairing RD spot. You can hope and dream that Pesce for whatever reason wants to sign in Detroit this summer, but RD pickings are historically slim. And you're not going to get Pesce for shorter or cheaper than Parayko, and they're only 1 year apart in age.

Hmm, dont hate it. Any word on the cost? Would be nice to have Maatta go the other way. He is at least not a negative like Holl. softens the ask on the picks/prospects a bit.
My understanding is he's not even available. Which is a shame.

Below is the RD market for guys that played more than 20 games at more than 18 minutes per game this season:

I tried to listen to Winged Wheel Podcast, but after they said Detroit biggest need is depth scoring i had to turn off. Let's ignore for a minute that they are 6th in GF/G 5th in 5-on-5 goals for, where do you put this depth scoring? You have Sprong an Fabbri playing on the 4th line. And there is a whole GA discussion and Seider usage discussion. I hate to judge people's interllectual capacity by soundbytes but sometimes you left to wonder if Brad Krysko is wearing a helmet to hockey games.
