When it came to the lockout - I thought both sides were in general to blame and mostly saw things through the players perspective.
However, in this case I think that Stepan is putting his own interests in front of sensibility a bit too much. When has a holdout ever really become a real win for the player without arb. rights looking at a bridge contract (without an offersheet)?
Sign for about $3 friggin million a year for 2 years, lace them up & get on the ice for the team, produce even better results and get your big payday in 2 years. All part of due process. The exceptions (ie bad signings) that do show up are by usually done desperate small market teams wanting to make a splash. Rocking the boat now is not the best move. PERIOD
Gotta wonder about the impact, agenda and realism of the agents "counsel"... Only realistic scenario is to cave to NYR or get an offersheet. Is the offersheet the better alternative for the agent? You bet it is...
