Seems a little low. Deal buys 2 UFA years.

6 years buying two years but not a fan of the 6 years on Hodgson at all. Two years or not, adjusting for it all, $4M-$4.5M range on hodgson for 6 years is a little high for me.

The Bruins did one of those behind the scenes series

The front office discusses trading Seguin. They saw on twitter than Nathan Horton's agent Paul Krepelka had told some people about his client not re-signing in Boston. Chiarelli calls Krepelka to find out if that's true. They found on twitter like everyone else.

Stepan, like Hodgson was, is 4 years from free agency. If he were to get a 6 year deal I think it would be around the $4.7 million that McDonagh got. There's not room for that, nor would there be if the Rangers didn't sign Moore, Pouliot and Johnson as so many people have been screaming about.

Amazing inside look for the fans of the Bruins, really interesting to watch them see stories break on twitter as well.

i understand slats is playing by the rules and its to his benefit for nyr.. but damnnnnnnn how can anyone blame stepan and his agent? all these less comparables and comparables get these long term deals.. it should be a no brainer for slats to lock him up.. number 1c or not.. guy has proven himself the 3yrs hes been here.. pay the dude.. 6x4.7 similar to mcd would be mint... still getting a ROI especially since cap will be going up.. which means his next deal after bridge is going to be 6m at the min the rate hes playing at..

And if he regresses and falls back to being a 40-50 point player? It's a gamble either way. These other players getting long term deals won't affect Stepan's deal. If anything, they'll look at the first 2 years of those deals, assuming they are back-loaded, because there is no way Sather is giving him more than 2 years.

The only thing left to negotiate is the money over those 2 years. Kadri's contract will have more of an impact that the longer term ones. Him getting 2.9 per year probably gave Stepan a little bump.

we're approaching the 24 hr mark on the Kadri deal and the first important day of camp.

Yes, we are. Stepan will sign sooner or later and it will be a 2 year deal. Of that I have absolutely no doubt. But because Kadri got 2.9 per year, that likely drove up Stepan's AAV.

Its simple, the Rangers don't have the cap space to sign the long term deal so the guy has to take the bridge deal. Its ridiculous if he holds out for even a week
