Oh, really? That is a bit drastic to block a random fan for a snarky tweet, I'm surprised!

It's weird. Step is usually cool as cucumber off the ice.

Player attitude probably factors into this quite a bit in these type of situations and at this juncture. Zucc seems like he wants nothing more than to just play NYR hockey. Zucc could have gotten more if he went to arb I'm sure. He could have gotten more if he waited until the 11th hour of arbitration but he was okay with $1.25M.

So is it just me that thinks Rick Nash looks like he's in horrible shape for a professional athlete?

When there's a signing, Gorts is praised. When there's a delay Slat's is razed. Unleash the hounds.

Gorton negotiates the contracts. Sather gives him parameters. Gorton can't go rogue. Sather is the boss. The Rangers have liked the 2 year bridge contract since 2006 when Fedor Tyutin got one. Gorton was still with the Bruins. Gorton didn't negotiate the contracts until 2011.

$1.15M. He accepted that the day before the hearing and after he met with the agents at Newport Sports. That's almost the 11th hour. When Zuccarello was in Europe,he was talking about a much higher number. Someone talked some sense into him.

Del Zotto is an idiot. He blocked me on twitter over a comment I made to Craig Custance about the Rangers defense including Del Zotto being kind of soft and how McIlrath hopefully will change that. Ovechkin made some comments and he was right. It wasn't a tweet directed at Del Zotto. Can you believe Del Zotto actually searches twitter looking for bad tweets? That's what he wastes his time on. Thin-skinned.

Careful now, we have the best defense in the league. Don't call them soft, you might have a mob here come after you.

ya zuccarello situation is a comparble....
signing day before hearing with not even remotely the same pedigree as stepan.
nonsense.
If glen is gonna sit on a offer and expect it to be signed because camp starts even though the offer severly under pays him to what his lesser comparables get is just not ok.
He has to stand firm and wait for sather to pay him fair market value. A bridge deal will get signed it just needs to be slotted in right price compared to other comparables.
Not right to put this on stepan. Orginization needs to be fair as well...

How can you judge from this photo that he is in bad shape ? Let's wait until he plays a few games and then judge it.

Del Zotto still strikes me as a kid. He needs to get past that and grow up some. He needs to take more responsibility in his game the way Subban has in Montreal or Pietrangelo or Doughty or even his junior partner John Carlson. He's become a good enough player but he's far from being a star. The creative offensive side of his game is what he has to take to another level. 40 points is good but if a team's best offensive weapon on D is a 40 point guy year in and year out we're going to continue to have a mediocre pwp. That's the area he can stand out from the rest of the defense corps.

Overall I don't look at the Rangers defense as soft but they're not real hard either. A guy like McIlrath would change things overnight. Even Bickel who didn't get a lot of minutes made it a lot more edgy. When opposition players know they might get busted in the chops the whole world perspective of opponents changes. The current Ranger D corps do not fight--DZ's never fought anyone at the NHL level--neither has McDonagh or Staal since Semin--Girardi's been a couple years anyway--the last I remember was Hartnell. Stralman?--would have been with Columbus or Toronto if it happened at all. Moore had a fight last year--but I think that was a first. Falk--the 7th guy will fight.

I mean this does not even surprise me a little bit and I'll leave it at that. His wild mental ups and downs on the ice lend credence to that theory as well.

That said if I was an NHL Coach/GM the absolute first rule of business would be blocking twitter. The amount of harm and distractions that can come from it faaaaar outweigh the good.

Someone else seems a little thin-skinned

Did you even read what he said?

Del Zotto is a professional athlete. He better get used to critisism. His response is very telling. It shows a lot about his level of maturity. Or even worse, it exposes his competence.

I have no problem with MDZ blocking someone from his personal twitter account for calling him soft. Could he ignore the comment? Sure. But why should he have to?

Of all the things I'd call Del Zotto, soft really isn't the first one that comes to mind...

He's not super physical but he's not any software than McDonagh that's for sure.

Land of no calls..
Sports agencies actually have people who will use Twitter and it's API's to search for negative comments about their clients, and then provide a 'block list' to those clients based on those results. They're trying to save their clients from getting into fights with internet tough-guys (or girls).

As RB calls him "Stop Coaching Pat" was wrong and/or mixed up the offensive group and defensive group times.

New York Rangers @NYRangers
Next up for conditioning tests are the defensemen---from McDonagh, Girardi, Staal to McIlrath, Noreau & Graves, they're all out there!

Yeah, I did read what he said. Del Zotto can do whatever he damn well pleases with his Twitter. I'll leave it up to the fans to not get bent out of shape about something as meaningless as getting blocked on Twitter by an athlete/celebrity.
