Gotta stop looking into the past, he's not the JD of 2015-2017 anymore and they're younger more versatile players out there that fit this team

Are there actually better players than him that will cost us less in trade assets?

I mean let's be honest they are putting 15k in and packing 10 thousand of them side by side. I don't see the difference in doing that with 15 thousand or 50 thousand people especially if proof of vaccination is required....I am failing to see the risk to public health here.

So when then? I feel like we have been and gone past cautious at this point. The vaccine works, it's time people start trusting it and if everyone in the building is vaccinated there is no logical reason to not fill it other then health theater.

Don't sleep on covid yet. Alberta and Saskatchewan were way too lax and our hospital systems are on the verge of collapse. It can get out of hand quickly

need to go 6-5 to make the playoffs

Schedule:

BAL x 3
TB x 1
MIN x 4
NYY x 3

I predict we will go 6-5 in our last 11 and finish with a record of 91-71 and just might squeak into that last WC spot where we will likely play the Red Sox for the WC game and the right to play 1st place TB for the AL East.

Hopefully we can even leapfrog the White Sox. and possibly wont have to worry about a WC game.

2-1 vs BAL
0-1 vs TB
2-2 vs MIN
2-1 vs NYY

Division leaders automatically qualify for the divisional round and it makes them ineligible to be in the wildcard round. So Tampa, Houston and Chicago go straight to the divisional round.

Only way the Jays can avoid the wildcard round is if they overtake Tampa for first place.

So it’s likely 2 of Boston, Toronto, New York, Oakland or Seattle in the wildcard game.

You keep tacking on losses everytime we win so you can keep trotting out that 91-71 prediction you seem so obsessed with. Be a little more optimistic. We've been a .700 team for over a month. Why would we suddenly drop to almost .500 in the last two weeks, especially considering we have 7 games left with the two worst teams in the AL. We have a way better chance at going 8-3 or even 9-2 than we do 6-5.

if I was Kiermaier I wouldn’t have given it back either. That being said he should be getting a fastball in the backside tonight for getting caught. Jays won’t do it because Montoyo is a bitch
Kiermaier took that card like it was an acceptable consolation prize for not being awarded the run.

Mlb has set a precedent that cheating st that level is a 1 year suspension.

While stealing signs is legal because it is interpreting publicly available information, stealing another team's private data is serious. And the direct benefit of his offense was arguably greater than either of the two precedents because the precedents gave an indication of the signaled pitch and ģave a draft strategy, whereas Keirmaier stole the entire game plan.

I think we sweep the Os, go 3-1 against the twins. The Os got record level beat down and the twins are pretty bad as well. I think 7-9 wins is very possible if we keep getting strong pitching throughout.
This is a really special group, the individual numbers are fantastic and they are 2nd in RPG, 1st for home runs 3rd for BA and 5th in ERA .
Analytics really are bang on in baseball. Bring on the redsox, I like our chances in a 1 game playoff and I think we would beat the Rays with the offense we have and a rotation of Ray, Manoah and Berrios the other starters strengthen a bullpen that has improved a ton.
Admittedly I'm a homer so who knows lol.

Its not private data when its literally sitting on the infield dirt.

The Jays should absolutely put one on his ass this afternoon if its a blowout game either way, but they're also 100% at fault.

Yeah, this doesn't compare at all to other cheating scandals.

Rather than throwing at him, I think my favourite response would be something super passive aggressive. Like... if Kiermaier is running and loses his helmet, someone scoop it up and bring it into the dugout and don't give it back. The Rays already decided stuff left on the field is fair game.

Stealing someone else's property is theft. If he glances at it and reads what he can, then your argument is valid. But Keirmaier committed grand larceny (the information is worth between hundreds of thousands and millions given that it could literally be the difference between making the playoffs and not making them).

If the game gets out of hand and he gets a hit, Vladdy should just take first base and walk away with it on him lol

That's... a little much.

hmm you got me good bit.

Given that Tampa has the division and is in good position to take top spot in the AL, it was a pretty unsportsmanlike move by Keirmaier … I despiss his more than did before, which was a lot.

Anyway shutting him out last night was some nice revenge. Jays need to focus on winning games right now.

Need to have a backbone. Someone needs to get drilled tonight. How can you sit there and just watch someone steal your shit. Man up. Timing is everything though. Wait till its 8-0 in the 9th inning.

I wouldn't call it grand larceny, but none of the players should be using cheat sheets during the game, they should be studying them before the game and once the game starts the cheat sheets are put away. Do students look at cheat sheets while taking an exam? they shouldn't because that's cheating. If any player is caught looking at these sheets during the game they should be ejected.

How is a cheat sheet cheating? There are no rules in baseball against such a thing (otherwise, the official lineup card would also cross this line).

Just because you were raised in a specific system doesn't make that system good.

I don't see how we can't do better than 91 wins. Going 4-3 vs BAL/MIN would be a big disappointment imo

Students also can't have a friend standing at the front of the class relaying information to them with hand signals, but that's allowed in baseball.

But more importantly... why are you comparing professional athletes to students? How many professions are there where you can't look up information if you don't know/remember it?

The weirdest part to me is that the Jays are outperforming his expectations against the Rays - one of the best teams in the league - so he's now expecting worse results against the Twins to balance it out. Maybe it's just about keeping expectations low or something? I don't know, but "The better the team plays, the worse I expect them to do the next few games" is a bit of an odd mentality.
