Between that, his talk of how the Jays deserve a full stadium, and his talk about Vladdy, and then he and Vladdy swapping signed jerseys makes me want Donaldson back man.

I dunno how it would happen but by golly give it to me

Was very suprised to see Donaldson ranks top 5 in average exit velocity this season.

1. Aaron Judge 95.8 mph
2. Giancarlo Stanton 95.2 mph
3. Vladimir Guerrero 95.1 mph
4. Josh Donaldson 94 mph
5. Fernando Tatis Jr 94 mph

He's also playing in a big ballpark and a division that is hurting his homerun total.

Currently has 24 HR but would have these HR totals in AL East parks...

Rogers Centre 28 HR
Fenway Park 30 HR
Camden Yard 31 HR
Yankee Stadium 30 HR

Not sure how good defensively he is but offensively he's still a good player.

What's the budget.

No idea, but it also doesn't matter. As long as a budget exists, money spent means less to spend elsewhere.

Unless you're suggesting management can just spend literally whatever they want, which would be really stupid and naive but would explain a lot.

Steward Berroa was promoted to NH leapfrogging over Vancouver. Pretty sure he’s second in MiLB in stolen bases with his 58.

Donaldson is still a very productive player offensively. His biggest issue at this point is just his health. His body is breaking down and he can't stay healthy over a long period of time anymore.

I am expecting 1-2 against TB and 2-2 against Minny. I think that should be good to keep us in a wild card spot.
I could see it, but I think the starters outside of Ryu and the offense has been solid enough to not lose more than we win in a 7 game stretch. I think we go 4-3 or 5-2. I could see still losing 1 or 2 to the Ray's though.

The Rays havent been themselves lately. The Jays outside of Ryu starts and being shutout once have been dominant.

I can see 6-1 or 5-2 over the next stretch and overtaking top wildcard spot over the Red Sox with them playing the Mets and Yankees over the same stretch. Could become a pivotal 7 days where the Jays can put some distance between themselves and the Red Sox and Yankees.

A couple stats that have been lost on me given all of the amazing offensive numbers the Jays have put up this year:
Bo with 22 steals and only 1 CS is impressive
Teo now passing Vlad with 106 RBI, third in MLB despite playing 14-18 games less than the other leaders

Crazy offensive year for this team.

Would be interesting to see if he caught on with a playoff team next year. If he is a passable reliever, i manager could use him as a pinch runner or to bunt.

I'm not convinced the ~7.5 BB/9 in AAA this year is going to translate well to the majors, but we'll see.

I would steer clear of JD at this point. He's gonna be 36 this November and has 2 years remaining on a pretty big contract that the Jays should not be taking. His health is streaky and to get him means the Jays would have to give up someone to get him.

If Semien walks should the Jays go after Carlos Correra? He has connections through Springer, is only 27 years old, and because of how elite Correra is at short, we can finally move Bo over to 2B where I feel he can be sooo much better defensively.

Good. With a vaccine mandate in place 30% capacity is a joke. Should be full capacity.

Yes, because baseball is more important than taking a cautious approach to public safety.

Yes, 27-34 at 3B/SS is better than 31-39 at 2B on turf. And the best part is Correra isn't the only option, so we got a couple more chances if we whiff on him.

That said, they have a ton of money coming off their payroll this year, so they will have PLENTY of money to resign Correra. Not only that, but they have a few good players pushing well into their late 30s, so Houston will be looking to retain all of their younger players. Unless Correra has said he has no interest in resigning with Houston, it's a darn good bet he's staying there.

If Semien isn’t re-signed then the only guy I’m interested in is Baez to play a role Semien did on a 1 year contract.

Otherwise, I move Biggio back to 2B and take a run at Ramirez. If Ramirez isn’t possible then Chapman would be great.

Other trade options are Donaldson or maybe even Longoria. Grichuk would have to go back in these types of trades for me to consider it.

Another name is Bryant. We got a good relationship with Boras now, I wonder what Bryant is asking for.

Seager and Escobar would be good fall back options.

In a perfect world we re-sign Semien to a reasonable deal and trade Biggio+ for Ramirez or Biggio straight up for Chapman.

I mean let's be honest they are putting 15k in and packing 10 thousand of them side by side. I don't see the difference in doing that with 15 thousand or 50 thousand people especially if proof of vaccination is required....I am failing to see the risk to public health here.

So what? What's wrong with a cautious approach? It's just baseball, dude.

There are a LOT of good names on the list this year, and a lot of them are coming from teams I can see looking to cut payroll.

Unfortunately, I can see the Jays going after the OTHER Seager in the hopes of saving money while keeping the position open enough for prospects.

So when then? I feel like we have been and gone past cautious at this point. The vaccine works, it's time people start trusting it and if everyone in the building is vaccinated there is no logical reason to not fill it other then health theater.

If semien walks we should trade for Donaldson.

Would be great if JD and management could sit down and hash out their differences in the off-season. Shapiro was very complimentary of JD on the broadcast when he came up to the plate.

That said, im not taking on Donaldson's remaining 51.5M unless Minnesota agrees to take on Grichuk's remaining $20.5M. Even then i still might ask Minnesota to retain more money.

Twins need starters so some variation of Stripling, Thornton and/or Kay could be added to the deal. If they want an infielder, perhaps Smith could be included.
