Oakland is winning again which could cause some problems down the stretch.

think its time to offload grichuk this winter and give teo that contract

Er...no. If they need the money, okay, I get that, but if you don't, Grichuk seems to have figured out what he was doing wrong over the summer and he's back to setting a career high in RBIs in 100 fewer at bats. Maybe if there was some guarantee Springer and Hernandez never got hurt again or something it wouldn't be a bad idea, but since it's actually more than likely those two will miss significant time during a season, it's nice having a guy around who can hit 30 home runs and provide all around decent defense in the outfield. And the Jays don't exactly have a huge outfield prospect waiting in the wings.

And as much as I like Hernandez, I remember suggesting the Jays go for him when everyone was wondering what prospect to nab to replace Bautista (my other choice was Tavarez, rest his soul), his control ends on the wrong side of 30. I say see that control to its end, then decide to resign him rather than locking him up now. You don't want to be stuck with him for another 7 years when he quickly slips back to hitting 20 home runs at sub 250 while striking out like 150 times.

Baseball players don't decline the same way as hockey players. Just because a baseball player is turning 30 doesn't mean shit. Some of them even get better in their 30s. We've seen examples of that right here in Toronto. Bautista, EE, Semien, all had career years in their 30s playing with the Blue Jays. There are probably many other examples of players actually getting better not worse.

The MVP voting will likely end up being a 50 50 split.

Jake Lamb should be toast once we get Biggio and Espinal back.

Yeah, I don't even know why it's a discussion. Lamb is like...why? I can kind of understand keeping Valera over Biggio since Valera is kind of hot and better defensively while Biggio is ice cold and down, but, going forward, Biggio is younger and has certain excellent qualities while Valera is the kind of guy you convince another team is on the verge of a breakout and is worth giving up a good prospect for.

I think it’s the Jays and Red Sox to lose. They both seem better then NY and both have easier schedules and now with both teams ahead it’s going to be real hard for the yanks especially if they are behind after their Texas series. Ending vs Boston, TOR, and TB is a very difficult path for them.

Was he actually reacting to that or is it spliced together out of context? lol.

Also, the Padres pretty much are the definition of "imploding down the stretch" right now.

It’s amazing that the Padres are 3.5 GBs of the WC and even more shocking is the Cards who overtook them. I believe they were 8-9 GBs on deadline day. The cards are one team you don’t want to play in a do or die.

I believe none of the SD starters have made it through the season with no IL stints except for Darvish and I believe his ERA has been 6-7 since the crackdown on the sticky stuff.

I haven’t been a big fan of Preller’s big moves but when you look at a rebuild from top to bottom, SD played it to near perfection, right up to all their moves this offseason. Pretty crappy that they got hit so hard with injuries to their rotation.

A's play the M's and Astros two series each, to end their season. Not an easy way to finish.

Plus the Astros are trying to at least keep their position ahead of the White Sox to get home field advantage in the first round.

Houston is also only 3.5 GBs of the Rays. They still have a shot at being the top seed in the AL.

Plus if Oakland wins today, they are only 6 GBs back of Houston.

So you know the Astros will want to finish the season strong.

So the cards are the Jays of the NL
