who knew that punishing people involved in a rape coverup would be controversial lol
So the MLB made a shitty decision means the NHL should follow suit?Baseball suspended a Cy Young winning pitcher (Trevor Bauer) for 2 years over sexual assault allegations.
Major League Baseball suspended Bauer for two years on Friday for violating the league’s domestic violence and sexual assault policy. The suspension covers 324 games, without pay, and runs into the 2024 season. Bauer, 31, had been on administrative leave with pay since last July 2, and because he did not reach an agreement on a penalty, he was not given credit retroactively for time served.
Releasing the names will be a public service whereas others can avoid interaction with these society bastionsIf the young woman who was the victim in this does not want to relive it why should any details be released to the public? How does that help her?

In weeks or months? Got the feeling that this one may go on for a while, especially if names are finally released. How long until this thread is locked
Before?Just so I understand this correctly. U know facts and everything.. and I quote, "The league, In light of the severity of what's ALLEGED , are levelling a penalty they find equally as harsh." Well I guess that's where we are in this day and age . A penalty as harsh, as an alleged incident. Hope I'm wrong..
And before all the pitch forks come out. No I don't agree with rape or sexual assault .NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW ,BUT NO ONE IS BELOW IT EITHER...

Alleged transgressionIt’s sad that there’s so many people on this forum more concerned about an imaginary culture war against the “woke mob” than the actual transgression itself
Yes sir. Just a peaceful protest!Alleged transgression
Nothing had been proven in a court of law
Yeah most 17-20 year olds make bad decisions. Most 17-20 year olds don’t participate in a gang rape. It’s pretty gross that you can’t figure out the difference.Amazing to think what I have learned here:
Court of public opinion is more just than the actual criminal or civil courts.
Evidence isn't important, all we need is what some "investigators" paid by a party with a huge vested and financial interest here believe is to be closer to the truth.
Persons who make bad decisions one night when they are 17-20 years old should be banned from making any kind of living. They really should be homeless and hungry it seems.
The people have the right to know dammit about private matters. Details are REQUIRED!
Did I miss anything?

Once again no one said this but you and others keep going on about how anyone who doesn't agree with you must support and condone rape. Rapists aren't those convicted in a court of public opinion. They are convicted in a court of law. Rape is a crime. The punishments for it have been set by legal precedent. What you and others with your wild opinions are telling me is you know better than the legal system and legal precedent what is rape and what the punishments should be.Ah, yes. When will people realize that the real victims in a gang rape are the rapists?
They face the worst fate of all. PTSD from being gang raped? No. Prison? Don't make me laugh. This is the true hell of maybe not being able to make millions of dollars playing hockey for a little bit.

I suggest passing this incident off as persons making "bad decisions one night" is missing a lot.Amazing to think what I have learned here:

Craig McTavish made a bad decision. There is a difference between a bad decision and a predatory/malicious decision IMOI suggest passing this incident off as persons making "bad decisions one night" is missing a lot.
I don't give a shit about morons calling me out on stuff I didn't say or don't believe. If these players were convicted of a crime then they would serve their time no? At some point a person has paid their debt to society. If the crazy mob posting here doesn't think it's enough that's their problem. Stop watching hockey if it bothers you so much. Me, I'll stick with the legal system we have in Canada and the US. And that includes right to privacy from speculation and getting skewered unfairly in the court of public opinion. In the post I quoted YOU were operating under the premise that if they did what they are accused of they shouldn't be punished for it because they were just 17-20 year old making a reasonable mistake. You can say "innocent until proven guilty" if you want, but you can't go on to say if they're guilty they still shouldn't be punished and not expect people to call you out on it.

Go find the find where I or many others who have posted have said they shouldn't be punished for their crimes if they have been convicted of them.So are these persons who made a bad decision while young and shouldn't be punished or potential convicts who should be punished for their crimes? It'd tough to follow when you have no logical or ethical consistency.
Go on about the sacred right to privacy from speculation and not being skewered in the court of public opinion though, that's a fun new one. Not sure how it squares with the free speech thing.
The league is going to respond to what customers want. If more customers want to see rapists suspended, the league will act. If more customers are like you and instead want to see these guys face no suspension, then the league will go that route.
