I wonder if Willander will be punished for snubbing the SHL to go to Boston University and play in the NCAA.

Having watched him this weekend on the top D-pairing role with Lane Hutson, i find it hard to believe that there are 2-3 RD better than Willander for Sweden. His skating and battle level is top class and he is drawing big time praises from scouts and coaches.

His issue isn't that, no. It's him snubbing the team when he really needed to, well, not do that and showcase himself in actual games.

Any word on Bemidji State's Liam Engstrom? Hasn't put up a lot of points for the Beavers yet but it looks like he's played some games for the Sweden U20 team (though not sure which tournament).

So, notable omissions?

G
Alexander Hellnemo
Noah Erliden

D
Hugo Fransson
Lucas Lagerberg Hoen
Axel Landén
Theo Lindstein
Calle Odelius (injury)
Albert Wikman

F
Filip Eriksson
Hannes Hellberg
Linus Hemström
Felix Nilsson
Noel Nordh
Erik Påhlsson
Alexander Suzdalev
Simon Zether

...to name a few. Cannot say I miss any of them greatly. D looks very good despite no Odelius or Lindstein... and a guy like Suzdalev would probably not make a scoring line on this team, so I can see why they selected the grinders ahead of him.

****
Oskar Pettersson, Rasmus Rudslätt, Jakob Norén are probably the ones I would personally consider switching out, but then again they have performed well in previous tournaments.. so...

No Lindtsein is strange for me. I would like that Simon Zether and Hannes Hellberg have spots too but well.
