Not familiar with Jakob Noren. What’s he bring over guys like Theo Lindstein and Hugo Fransson?

I might be biased as he's a MoDo product but he has a very mature defensive game for his age. Lindstein got beat out by others filling what likely would be Lindsteins role on the team. Noren and Lindstein fill different roles.

Noren is a gamer though. He's a little undersized but he battles hard. Showed well in other international games and has been solid this year on loan in Mora. I'm thrilled that he got a spot.

Malmö, Sweden
Djurgården trio
Stenberg - Bystedt - O.Pettersson
Wahlberg - Edstrom - FUS
Wagner - Born - Forsfjäll/Rudslätt

Salomonsson - ASP
EP - Hävelid
Norén - Willander/Johansson

Hävelid
Thelin

Seems correct to start.
Maybe Born instead of Pettersson? Born is producing points in SHL unlike Pettersson

Djurgården trio
Stenberg - Edstrom - Born
Wahlberg - Bystedt - FUS
Wagner - Forsfjäll - O.Pettersson
Ruddan

Salomonsson - ASP
EP - Hävelid
Johansson - Willander
Noren

noren should not play ahead of one of Wilander/Johansson

Looks like a weaker year for Sweden? Canada is definitely weaker this year as well. I think Lekkerimaki with Ostlund could make up a pretty good line, Willander and ASP on defence could be difference makers as well. Not sure the regular depth for Sweden is there compared to usual though. What do you think?

Should be a better team than last year (4th place). Goaltending is the weaker part imo.

Strongest team in many years.
They ended up having a bad result, but do you think on paper this team is better than 2020? Raymond and Holtz upfront with Broberg, Soderstrom, Bjornfot and Johansson on D?

I am not swedish but i‘d say the strength of the team isn‘t an elite standout player like Holtz or Raymond but a lot of great players and depth.

This is a good roster for Sweden. For perspective, one of the two you highlighted is likely to be the 7th defenseman.

This can be a fun team to watch, with no big omissions. Goalies may be a bit weaker than last couple of years, and there's no stand-out first goalie. Who would you put between the pipes in game one? Hävelid?

Yes Hävelid, has been first goalie for the 04 team. And also his father is the coach.

Thelin will probably just play 1 game

I really like this team on paper. Can only really argue about some of the lower end choices, but that is a better discussion than usual. Defense group is great. Interesting to only have two lefties, one of which is the clear 7th in my opinion. The lines are going to be interesting. Assuming they keep the Djurgården-trio together, I'm not sure if I want them to keep last years u18 line together or not. At least from a potential pov, FUS and Stenberg are the most offensively gifted amongst the rest, so perhaps spreading them out would be preferable.

Goaltending(and probably coaching, because Sweden) are the worrisome parts. Not a great goalie year, and that is what usually makes the difference. Maybe unfair expectations given how we have gotten Wallstedt and Lindom in recent years. Hoping for a good tournament for Hävelid.

Predicting a dominant performance in groups with a solid ass-whopping of Canada, a close but solid victory against the finns, only to tragically lose 3-2 in quarters to Switzerland. Peace.
