This mentality comes from the decline of Swedish hockey that @Eye of Ra has been telling everyone about. The Slovak or German Edvinsson wouldn't decline.
Meh, there's a lot of different reasons these things happends.

- Could just be a special case
- Could be that he thinks that the whole debacle with the WJHC took lots of time and strength from him that he could've used to achieve his dream
- Could be Rönnberg that don't want him to go
- Could be that he saw that Dahlin went there last time and didn't get to play much
- Could be the lack of relationship with Garpenlöv
- Could be the fact that the players going just feels like "the throwaways" that the IIHF and IOC throws into the meat grinder now that the NHL wont go

I wouldn't take Eye of Raa's thoughts on these matters even slightly serious.

Huh Simon? These quotes could look god awful in a few years. Participating in the Olympics should be a top priority for any athlete regardless of the circumstances, let alone an 18 year old SHL rookie :ha:.

But it’s probably for the best. Last thing we need on this team are spoiled kids with loser mentality.
The cut from the article you posted is funny, riiight part of why you’re not going is to leave room for guys like Folin. Hedman has a conn smythe and a norris trophy and has been the consensus best defenseman in the world for the past five years. He’s never played in the olympics, what makes you think Folin deserves to? At least try to be honest..

He just doesn’t wanna mess up his season with a EHT- tournament in china.

According to Russian media, Pär Lindholm got an invitation to the Olympics.

Not really, he has been listed around 181/83 in all of his former teams as well. EP just messed it up for some reason.

You are a Jokerit fan, right? Do you think Norman, Holm, Lindbäck and Lööv should make it to Olympics?

Lööv plays in Switzerland this season, but he was quite bad last season. No idea how he has played this season. Lindbäck has been okay in net but not more than that, not near being a top KHL goalie so I would pass on him, especially when Lasse Johansson has been better in the KHL plus with Joel Lassinantti and Gustaf Lindvall playing extremely well in the SHL and Jhonas Enroth with his previous WC and OG experience will probably be considered.

Norman has also been okay for a third liner but his line has been rather anonymous this season and there are certainly better Swedish players for that role. The only one that might make Sweden's squad is Holm that has had a big upside offensively this season who has played a major role in crucial situations and is a major reason to why Jokerit surprinsingly has been a top team in the Western Conference this season.

Why is Heed never in consideration? I thought he was good in San Jose. Or does he not bring anything Sweden doesn't already have with the likes of Tömmernes and Pudas probably on the roster?

Yes he is similar player as Tömmernäs and Pudas. There is also Linus Hultström, Adam Almqvist, Niklas Hansson, Magnus Nygren, Emil Djuse, Christian Djoos, Joakim Ryan and Joel Persson. I personally would not mind if Heed makes it. He was solid in Channel One Cup.

I was joking. May not be fair to expect people to interpret a joke in their second or third language. Swedes are the masters of dry humor though, so I thought you guys might get it.

We lost to Denmark (twice) and Belarus last season - with NHLers. And we are a punching bag in EHT year after year. Not to mention that we got beaten by Germany in 2018 and have Garpenlöv and Monten as coaches. No, we are not gonna do fine.

With “NHLers”. The actual full time NHLers were Kempe, Olofsson and Rakell, hardly game breakers, and decidedly limited.

Lundeström and Sörensen would be and are, respectively, at best probably top 30 players in the SHL.

People are making way too much out of one bad tournament.

it was not only 1 bad tournament. we where bad in og 2018 and wc 2019 aswell. and every year in eht. We also lost to Denmark in a pre-game for WC.

Just look at our possible roster for this OG and compare it to Latvia, Denmark, Slovakia for exemple, we are hardly better than them.

We have 150+ players NHL and AHL, of course the quality of our players in Europe will be lower then.

Finland absolutely do not have a better roster than us. The only team that clearly do are Russia.

Slovakia are a medal candidate with their non-NHL roster. No shame in not being much better than them. I think Sweden have a better team though. Latvia and Denmark have very few players that would make our roster.
