Pretty much only way to make me watch the Olympics would be to go with a full U24 team.

Garpen will pull a Grönborg though and go with a very bland O26 team, with no Omark to boot so no skill in the boring blandness. The team will finish like 8th and nobody will care(like last Olympics) except for that it will serve as just another turd to put onto the pile that will be the disaster that is Garpen's legacy as a coach.

Hey, but maybe he brings a single U26 player like Grönborg did in Dahlin, then just like Grönborg plays him all of 7 minutes while that player looks much better than pretty much the entire squad.

Omark has reportedly declined, Garpenlöv says all other players he’s talked to are interested.

I guess this implies both good news and bad news for Luleå, then. Good news for us, Omark will stay put. Worrying news, I guess Erik Gustafsson will want to go? They must have asked him, right? Plus I would think that Honka and Tyrväinen are close to making Team Finland, not sure about Sami Lepistö, though he’s been surprisingly good considering his age, a great addition for us.

I also think Wallstedt might be considered for a third string, watch and learn-role at the Olympics.

Bad news is I have no reason to watch Sweden’s games with Omark passing. Good news is, that’s only marginally less reason than next to none.

garpenlöv might be afraid to give a youngster a spot. rifalk have been good in eht. enroth is still good. lindvall good shl goalie. there is also lindbäck and reidenborn which are good khl goalies. assuming hellberg and johanssons is locks. on the other hand, with monten as assistent it might open up spots for wallstedt, edvinsson and eklund.

USA is sending a very young team. I would also like Sweden to do that.

Rickard Hugg - Linus Lindström - Linus Karlsson
Pontus Holmberg - William Eklund - Alexander Holtz
Jonathan Berggren - Karl Henriksson - Elmer Söderblom
Glenn Gustafsson - Nils Åman - Emil Heineman
Viktor Lodin, Olle Lycksell

Calle Själin - Samuel Jonsson
Albert Johansson - Adam Wildsby
Simon Edvinsson - Filip Johansson
William Wallinder - Joel Nyström

Adam Åhman
Jesper Wallstedt
Calle Clang

Something like that. For sure more fun than a normal EHT team.

Now that Omark said no:

Lasse Johansson
Hellberg
Wallstedt

Tömmernäs - Pudas
Pilut - Folin
E.Gustafsson - Dahlbeck
Holm - Bengtsson

Brome - Lander - Klingberg
Sörensen - Söderberg - J.Olofsson
Holmberg - Lindberg - F.Olofsson
Nordström - Kruger - Everberg
Larsson, Rydahl

A.Bengtsson is injured. Friberg i like, but he looks like a shadow of his normal self since that horror injury.

Perhaps Garpenlöv will go with some KHL players such as Kempe, Strömvall, Pettersson etc. But they looked bad in EHT. And dont forget his favorite Rasmussen.

What has Holtz done to even be in the discussion?

well, ppg in AHL. did not look bad in NHL either. Lots of talent in that guy.

He’s just not a very good player, he was less than mediocre in the SHL last season and I can’t see any improvement. No top prospect will look bad in the NHL 7 games in btw, him completing a simple tape to tape pass will get people super excited.

Yes, so far Holtz has shown very little of his skills in those seven matches. But it's important for people to realize that Jersey plays a different offensive line each game, so it's very difficult to play with anyone. My estimate is that he will be a stable member of the team in two years. He is not as successful as Raymond, he has a different role and more competition. Nevertheless, I think that he will be included in the NHL in the circle of players who explode in points once in 3-4 matches, but the rest of the matches give an average performance. Zacha struggled for three years and only last season and part of this began to confirm a high position in the draft.

A KHL centric team could look like:

Emil Pettersson - Oscar Lindberg - Malte Strömvall
Mattias Tedenby - Mario Kempe - Daniel Zaar
Jakob Lilja - Pär Lindholm - Anton Wedin
Joakim Nordström - Lucas Wallmark - Dennis Rasmussen

Klas Dahlbeck - Tim Heed
Lawrence Pilut - Lukas Bengtsson
Philip Holm - Linus Hultström
Theodor Lennström - Adam Almquist

Lars Johansson
Magnus Hellberg
Adam Reidenborn

Haha so Omark basically just wanted to play if the best players went, what made him think he’d be a part of that team? Simon Edvinsson also declined.

”but its still the olympics”

Here we go again. Edvinsson have declined, he dont want to play: Ishockey: Simon Edvinsson nobbar OS

Wont suprise me if we get 50+ declines.

”Sen förstår jag om andra spelare som till exempel min kompis Christian Folin vill köra. Det kanske är hans sista chans”

”Det är lite därför också. Blir för mycket flängande om jag också ska spela ett OS”

Huh Simon? These quotes could look god awful in a few years. Participating in the Olympics should be a top priority for any athlete regardless of the circumstances, let alone an 18 year old SHL rookie :ha:.

But it’s probably for the best. Last thing we need on this team are spoiled kids with loser mentality.

So, without NHL pro's, how do you think Sweden stacks up against Finland and Russia?

Zero chance. We are probaly the worst team in the entire tournament, even worse than China (they actually have a team full of good KHLers). We have too many players in NHL and AHL which has drained our quality in Europe.

Sweden will do just fine, they can easily medal. I can see tough match-ups coming, especially Finland-Sweden group stage match-up. Some swedish posters are just overly pessimistic.

We lost to Denmark (twice) and Belarus last season - with NHLers. And we are a punching bag in EHT year after year. Not to mention that we got beaten by Germany in 2018 and have Garpenlöv and Monten as coaches. No, we are not gonna do fine.

Delusional take

Russia's the clear cut #1, then Finland due to coaching and roster selection, then Sweden.

Sweden's at an all-time low right now with Garpenlöv. Going from him to Hallam will be night-and-day.

This mentality comes from the decline of Swedish hockey that @Eye of Ra has been telling everyone about. The Slovak or German Edvinsson wouldn't decline.

In parallel universe maybe
