it was not only 1 bad tournament. we where bad in og 2018 and wc 2019 aswell. and every year in eht. We also lost to Denmark in a pre-game for WC.

Just look at our possible roster for this OG and compare it to Latvia, Denmark, Slovakia for exemple, we are hardly better than them.

We have 150+ players NHL and AHL, of course the quality of our players in Europe will be lower then.

So, your logic is that NHL and AHL have some kind of preference to swedish players? And I guess, that the quality of brazilian and argentinian soccer players in South America is way worse than the quality of mexican, colombian or venezuelian players in South America. Too many brazilians and argentinians in Europe!

The players choosen so far are almost all hardworking gritty dudes. Its actually the right way to go. The Emil Pettersson, Anton Rödin, Malte Strömvall and those kind of players have not worked out for us. Pretty boys who dont want to break a nail.

The difference is that Sweden is not the Argentine and Brazil of hockey. Canada, Russia and USA are. If you dont think around 30 players from AHL and fringe NHLers went home and that will not inforce us, then you a simply wrong.

Finland absolutely do not have a better roster than us. The only team that clearly do are Russia.

Slovakia are a medal candidate with their non-NHL roster. No shame in not being much better than them. I think Sweden have a better team though. Latvia and Denmark have very few players that would make our roster.
Slovakia has pretty much the same quality roster as Latvia does. Very similar teams.

And, yes, only a couple of players at every position would make the Swedish roster, but there is a real overlap. The drop-off in skill levels isn't huge either. Our 4th-liners are still playing in KHL/Extraliga or Liiga and racking up points. And even according to bookies Sweden is winning only 3 games out of 4 against Latvia.

Also, it looks like you've selected goalies with inflated SVS% playing for some of the leading KHL sides, goalies who haven't been very good playing for other teams in other leagues. Not a smart choice.

Huh?

Lars Johansson and Hellberg have been great everytime they played in EHT. And Reidenborn was amazing in WC.

Russia has way less players in NHL than Sweden and there is a reason to it.

Thing is, NHL and AHL take those players, that they are interested in. Doesn't matter if they are from Sweden, from Russia or from Kazakhstan. They players that are not intresting to them are in Europe. So, if you are a fringe NHLer/good AHLer but you are 25-30 or older you will not get a contract you want and will go to Europe. There are plenty of swedish guys like that in Europe. Heed, Lander, Petersson, Tedenby, Lilja, Lindholm, Bengtsson, Tommernes, De La Rose, Brome etc You can easily get 3 rosters from Sweden that can compete for Gold at this olympics with proper coaching. Sweden-3 would still be better than Denmark, Slovakia etc. Sweden-5 probably would for that matter.

Sweden are better than Russia at producing great hockey players.

The team will go as far as the goalies let them. Just need the skaters to not f*** up and actually score once or twice.

Målvakter: Magnus Hellberg, Sotji, Lars Johansson, SKA St Petersburg, Adam Reideborn, CSKA Moskva.

Backar: Oscar Fantenberg, SKA St Petersburg, Christian Folin, Frölunda, Theodor Lennström, Torpedo.

Forwards: Mathias Bromé, Davos, Jacob de la Rose, Färjestad, Dennis Everberg, Rögle, Max Friberg, Frölunda, Linus Johansson, Färjestad, Carl Klingberg, Zug, Anton Lander, Zug, Joakim Nordström, CSKA Moskva, Gustav Rydahl, Färjestad, Lucas Wallmark, CSKA Moskva, Pär Lindholm Kazan, Daniel Zaar, Torpedo.

5 D spots open.

2 forward spots open.

I think its probaly Tömmernäs, Pudas, Pilut, E.Gustafsson and Dahlbeck.

2 last f i have no idea. Would be super boring if it was M.Kempe and Rasmussen. Ok with a gun to my head i would choose Marcus Sörensen and Jesper Olofsson.

Too many SHL forwards if you ask me, and I don't like the Zaar pick, overrated player.

A lot of players, especially Russians, decline going to North America to begin with.

Mark my words. Gustav Rydahl will end up our best player. He was super good in Channel One Cup. Everytime he stepped on the ice he was dangreous. He finally found his groom in international play. And lets not forget that he is strong as an tree and hits people. He has also become speedier this season.

This guy was literally a goon 5 years ago. Marvelous development.

Im much more optimistic now. Garpenlöv went the right way. I would be happy if we reach semifinals. Cant demand more.

I compared the number of players from Russia and Sweden in the three junior leagues in Canada. So OHL, WHL and QMJHL. It's counted for the seasons 18/19, 19/20, 20/21 - only QMJHL played and 21/22.

The absolute numbers are that there were 116 Russian players in the Canadian Junior Leagues and 14 Swedish players.
OHL - 18, 13 and 17 Russians vs 3.2 and 2 Swedes
WHL - 8, 4 and 3 Russians vs 2, 1 and 3 Swedes
QMJHL - 20, 16, 9 and 8 Russians vs one single Swedish player

Of course, there are almost 13 times more Russians than Swedes, yet they have 100+ juniors in Canada. And I wouldn't say that the MHL is a bad junior league in Russia and playing in it is a waste of time. Agent pressure on Russian children is too great because the agent promises them a dream on behalf of the NHL. But few players will experience a dream called the NHL, then return to Russia. And some do not play in the KHL but in the second elite Russian league - the VHL. And if they don't succeed there either, they will start playing in other European leagues. The infrastructure and facilities of the academies are rising a lot in Russia, the conditions for the development of young players are good enough, yet Russian children are leaving their home clubs and trying their luck in Canada.

We will see what is going to happen. The U23 law is in Duma (2nd reading)
