If there was ever a lottery that was fixed my money would be on the Crosby draft. Lemieux had the league in an uproar with his threats to move the Penguins out of Pittsburgh and Bettman was doing cartwheels trying to accommodate him. After the Pens won the lottery the threats disappeared. I've been suspicious ever since.

Ran it twice

Colorado stayed in first with Ottawa’s pick and shot up into second slot with own pick.....Rangers fell to 8th

Second time NYR won. I stopped. That’s what’s gonna happen. We will win the drafts.
 
I had a little bit different thing going on here. I was staring at the "mock draft" and was like we would never get that lucky to get 1 or 2. So, I stared further and said......jeez, Podkolzin wouldnt be that bad if we had #3. Sure enough 1st roll, we were 3rd pick and chose Pod.

Question.......if we were to pick 5th......would we actually choose Byram? He came up time and time again at 5th. I rolled Rangers at 5 and other teams choosing him 5th.

Yes.......Krebs was countless times at #7. Other teams pushed us down 1 spot. Ugggh.

I think I rolled about 10x, and got Kakko twice! I really think that is who we will be BLESSED with, and is actually my pick over Hughes. But, what do I know? You heard that here 1st, and will stop there. Don't want to jinx us.

Pelletier kept coming up #27 or 28. When Boston took him, we got Foote. Anyone else bother to look at that pick?

This is one of those drafts where its "easier" to draft second. you just take the guy the other team didn't, and be happy. This isn't a McDavid/Crosby/Dalhin draft where you definitely want to call #1.

This is more of a Hall vs Seguin draft.

Combine that with the fact that Dolan and Bettman were battling it out in the media somewhat regularly.

Didn't they stop televising the lottery starting with that draft?

I started typing '2005 nhl draft'....google auto completed RIGGED. :)

That's true. The Rangers and the Leafs were the two teams not really on board with the other owners and Bettman on their power play of a lockout. I think the people who run the league do have some animus towards the Rangers. So I would suggest to Rangers fans not to get their hopes up that we're about to win any lotteries.

I cant remember if it was the drawings or just the announcing of the picks but something was definitely televised.

I remember almost certainly it was picked in private but in front of an audience. Maybe the GMs or leagues officials, I forget which. It was then televised the next day. I remember it seeming like quite the farce.

I also think the picks came out online a couple days before.
 
I ran the lottery like 10 times and the Rangers dropped nearly every time. 3 times the Avs got both the 1st and 2nd overall and twice the Devils got Jack Hughes
 
You guys presumably know how probability works, so I don't know why you bother running small n samples.

Had to run it 6 times before I got #1 . 8-3-7-6-8 and then FIRST !!!! LOL...it is what it will be . Just have to get enough quantity stocked up for when we acquire McDavid .
