We likely need to start looking at the Anaheim slot is doing, since that’s where the Rangers are likely ending up.
 
Based off the Rangers recent picks in drafts its obvious they like going off the board a bit, they tend to go for European or US, they like young euros who play in mens leagues or who dominate their league. Based off of that I narrowed down a few players I can see the Rangers taking with both of their current 1st round picks, that is if they don't win a lottery of course.

Trevor Zegras - NTDP U18
Alex Turcotte- NTDP U18
Matthew Boldy- NTDP U18
Philip Broberg- AIK SWE
Cole Caulfield- NTDP U18
Victor Soderstrom- Brynas J20
Ville Heinola- Lukko (FIN)

And even then it may not matter because some team will win the lottery and Bump us down a spot, and then we're back in Krebsland.

The interesting part about Dach and Cozens is I think both can be very good wingers too I keep looking at those two guys. Although for some reason I feel like Dach becomes a Devil

Pretty much where I stand. I never loved him but I'll sign up to take a chance on him.
 
Tinfoil hat time... do people really think we are going to get the 1st overall pick with the draft being held IN Vancouver and the Nucks having a plausible shot at winning the lottery? You've been warned...

Rigging the draft lottery is as easy as preparing a bowl of Mac and cheese.
 
We are owed a top 2 pick. We were royally screwed during Crosby’s draft because of the lockout. We would have been all time bad that year. Then we end up with 12th. Not even close to the #1 slot.

Its our turn for the hockey Gods and Bettman to provide us with a win.

Even worse, we drew the 16th pick.

9 games left. Max points I see us getting is 6 out of those 9 games. Hopefully its 4.

Right now for us to catch Detroit, they would have to 3-5-1 and we would have lose out. Obviously if they win an extra game or two it would provide a buffer to do the same.

For us to catch NJ they would have to go 3-5 and us lose out. We play NJ. Would be nice to lose in regulation to them. They are one of the matchups to get 2 of the 6 points the rest of the way.

At the very least we can grab the 5th spot from ANA and increase our % points. Currently tied with 69 points with less ROW than them by 5 games. Not sure if that is how a tie breaker would work but it should.

As long as we dont catch EDM/BUF/VAN. They are 2-3 points ahead. We cant afford to win much down the stretch here.

Keep playing Lettieri and Gilmour. Rest a veteran if they are banged up such as Fast.

Thrashers did a good job trading back and getting multiple picks. Unfortunately for them they did not draft that well.

They got an extra 2nd rounder and 7th rounder for trading back from the 8th OA with San Jose to 12 OA. Then got another 2nd round pick for trading back from 12 OA to 16th OA with us.

The picks they got from the NYR both turned out to be future Ranger greats: Alex Bourret and Ondrej Pavelec.

Oh no.....Such bad memories. My first chance to actually watch rangers games since I was born and the season gets squandered by the lockout. Then, despite knowing we had an equal shot at the number 1 pick along with like half the league had, with a generational player available, and still tuned in and was CERTAIN the gods would smile on us and we’d somehow get lucky was a certainty like the sun will rise. So disgusted once it was all done. Should have EASILY had a top three pick and end up with f***in 16th but Pitt ofcourse gets their 18th top 3 pick in 2 years sealing their dynasty. f*** this league!!!

There were 4 teams with 3 balls (the most chances) in the lottery: Penguins, Sabres, Blue Jackets and Rangers.

Pitt got 1st, CBJ 6th, Buffalo 13th and Rangers 16.

Because OF COURSE we were tied for the best odds and fell into the bottom half of the league. We're the Rangers.

I'd say Buffalo getting Reinhart, Eichel then Dahlin has made up for their fall here.

Columbus picked 6,7,6,4,2 in 5 of the 7 years after this. Brassard, Voracek, Johansen, Filatov and Murray. After getting 1st OA with Nash a few years earlier. They've had their chances.


Gary gotta rig this for us. Call up David Stern for some tips on this, he has experience rigging draft lotteries for NY teams.

How were we screwed? We had three balls, along with the Pens, Sabres, Blue Jackets. We had a legit shot and chance proved otherwise.

Could have been us!

I don't think there was any intentional screwing but it sure does chafe that both the Rangers and the Pens had 3 balls with a chance to win the lottery and the Pens won it and the Rangers ended up slotted to pick 16th

That vast gulf between two teams with theoretically the same chances and the same level of expected suck is really galling and I think it's fair to say we got "screwed" by chance

Sabre’s can get Hughes and Kakko for all I care. Just don’t let the Devils get anyone good

Also, I'd almost prefer 2OA anyway, so that we don't need to read about Hughes vs. Kakko for the next decade.
