Really long waits....
Chicago Cubs 107 years
Arizona Cardinals 67 years
Sacramento Kings 64 years
Toronto Maple Leafs 48 years
2 Days until the Sabres play Columbus
.....
not quite as long, but it's up there!

i said it in the last thread, but what columbus is doing to the leafs is exactly the sort of game i'd like to see friday. i want a merciful ending to this saga. if the sabres are tied or within striking distance going into the last 10 minutes of the game, i'm going to have an actual heart attack. i can't take any more games like that this season, thanks

We all want this.

I predict we are up 1-0 after 1 lol.

And as soon as the Sabres get a 1 goal lead we drop back and clog the neutral zone and block every shot. Only chance we have is when a team has an interest in driving the net. Carolina did not go into the dirty areas while Lindback was coughing up rebounds. Not watching Columbus but I assume they are actually doing that.

I know this might sound a bit blasphemous......

But if there's a team in the East that I wouldn't mind seeing win the lottery (assuming we don't), it's Columbus.

C-Bus with McDavid would be downright scary for years....and fun to watch given their other pieces.

Yeah that sounds cool. A team to dominate our conference for 10 years.

If we don't get him send him out west

They definitely are. They don't mind getting dirty and paying the price. I'm watching them now and they look like all the teams playing for something look.

I get the sentiment that Columbus "deserves" McDavid because they didn't ever purge the roster or try to lose...it was just injury luck. But...that's also why I don't think they do. That's double luck lol. Luck to have injuries in the generational talent year and luck to win the lottery.

If I was going to pick a team that "deserves" winning the lottery I'd say Ottawa if they don't make it. They're very similar to where we've been before the purge. Their best players left...they keep trying to make it anyway. They just drafted a hell of a lot better than we did during our video scouting era.

And of course I don't want them to win the lottery and put him in our division.

All that said...if Columbus ends our misery...then sure give them the lottery lol. It's an expansion market that is working so that would fit too.

Columbus is actually a decently oiled machine now that they're healthy. They have so many young players that just weren't ready for the increased roles brought on by roster deficits. Now that they're healthy and the line up has shifted down they're a pretty deep team. They remind me a bit of the mid 2000 Sabres teams and I wouldn't be surprised if they're one of the top scoring teams in the league next season.

5-0.

Just utterly dominating them. They took a penalty and once killed paid them back by spending like 4 straight minutes in their end.

Roll this party right into Friday night fellas...

Had to check who the jackets were playing. Leafs........'nuff said.

What the Sabres have going for them on Friday is that Columbus has been hot, it's their final game, they are playing for fun with nothing to lose and no pressure and they want to probably would like to end the season on a high note.

Personally - I can't imagine that there's not more than a few guys on that team - especially those who will be back - who aren't thinking how much fun the next few years could be with a generational talent on your team. More wins, more goals, more money, more exposure, higher profile at free agency time, the chance to compete for a Cup, the positive fan reaction. Who would not want that for the next however many years your career lasts? The though has to be in some of these guys minds. I simply don't believe that they are 100% compete all the time when I know that there are games when they "don't have their legs", "need to focus", have a bad period or whatever. If there is a day to have one of those kinds of days it is Friday. They have proven all they can this year.

If it really really bothered them what happened with fans after the Arizona game...they might want to lay down on Friday night. Maybe Arizona does them a favor and beats Vancouver...but if not... If they hated what happened last time...they truly don't want to see what happens on Saturday...

Athletes on teams don't think that way. The #1 thing is working hard for your teammates. They care about Matt Ellis and Zac Dalpe. Which is why I prefer playing individual sports.

Exactly. Some people think it's gonna be a quiet respectful scene if we blow this Saturday.

It's gonna be ugly.

The fans aren't stupid. They know they are watching a team that decided to try with 15 games to go because they were embarassed. Maybe if they gave that effort all season things would be different, but they mailed it in til March

As someone said, we won't know until like 11:30 PM (Eastern Time) on Sat. if we've "blown it" or not.

"Let's not boo them until we see if Arizona wins against Anaheim later"

-Things that won't be heard over the massive booing on Saturday

Yeah that'd be awesome. I absolutely love what Jarmo has done in Columbus, save the last few contracts. Foligno was fine because he's their heart and soul, but it was clear overpayment. They had to take on Clarkson and the Bob deal is really expensive. Hope they don't have trouble retaining their decent young players.

On the topic of McDavid, if we don't get him I want him in Arizona, Columbus, Ottawa or Edmonton.
Arizona: means wed get Eichel
CBus: so likeable
Ottawa:get to see him all the time
Edmonton:for the tears on HF.

Obviously, I want him in Buffalo above all
