Another reminder for all my fellow Leaf fans

Ovechkin didn't win until his 13th year
Stamkos didn't win until his 12th year
Yzerman didn't win until his 14th year

Matthews is going into year 7

Yes it hurts more than ever right now, but blowing up this core is not the answer. You keep adding to it, the core guys are only getting better and growing. Stick with it. Trolls are gonna troll. If it was a badly played series with zero compete/structure etc. Yes we can make a case for serious core issues. That was not the case. Stick with it, run it back, add some more pieces, keep this core.
Matthews is a perimeter sniper who played with absolutely no heart. Great players step up and grasp the moment. Marner did yet got hung out to dry by a spoiled star who couldn’t cope AGAIN with the tight checking. Matthews needs to show the effort. It’s harder to create space and get open in the playoffs. The game is tighter and more physical.
At least Marner isn’t being trashed this year for Matthews failures like he was last year.

The humorous part is that when AM finally gets it (like Yzerman did) his Leaf tenure will have likely ended.

No, he isn’t.

If they can't beat Pointless Tampa they do not deserve to advance. I feel sorry for Leafs, though and would've very much preferred them to advance instead of Lightning. Hopefully Cats will be able to beat them.
Bad take, a bunch of teams lost to Stamkoless Tampa 2 years ago, and it's not even a full game without Point.

Watched them all. Other than seeing the Hawks win 3 cups I also enjoy seeing the most arrogant fan base in sports lose year after year.

Leafs last won in 1967.
Most people have no/limited memory before age 5.
1962 - 2022 average life expectancy- 79.9 years
Over 75% of Leaf fans have NEVER experienced a winner. Those who have are all over 60 years old.
. The number increases every year.

For how much some people on HF whine about all the Leafs chatter, it's amazing how much the same people feel the need to come in these threads (or create new Leafs threads altogether) just to continue talking about and shitting on the Leafs. We lost, you got your wish, move on with your summer. Surely at a certain point you must realize it's sad to continue talking shit to other adults.

Matthews led the series in hits but is a soft perimeter player who doesn’t like to get physical. Interesting.

You realize that if you guys would have won a round, Nevermind a Cup, that Leaf fans would have made approx 48 threads all summer long about how amazing they are, yes?

You get what you deserve

How many of them never made it out of the 1st round?

If you play that series 10 times, I'd imagine Toronto wins about 6 of them. It's hard loss for the fanbase, made worse by the stupid playoff format. Both those teams were worthy of going to the conference finals.

They shouldn't overreact though. They're a top 5 team and would've beaten most other playoff teams. Tampa is likely to take a small step back next year, while teams like Boston, Pittsburgh, and Washington are poised to fall even further. They'll have as good of odds as anyone in the East.

Weird post. If you hate the Leafs so much, stop worrying about us and investing your time and energy into commenting about the Leafs. Enjoy the rest of the playoffs. Doesn't impact me because I can just choose to stay off HF (or the main boards), it's just sad that so many posters here constantly whine about all the Leafs chatter but can't help themselves from focusing their time on commenting about the same team. A good portion of all the Leafs threads are from non-Leafs fans. A LIGHTNING fan made the post about the JT no-goal and Lightning fans chirped him as if he was a Leafs fan. It's sad.

Lol leaf fans still arguing about reffing.

Ya but Tampa has a goalie who is also a superstar and you don't.

And yet if not for a phantom 5 on 3 with 6 minutes left in an elimination game your superstar goalie would’ve been beat. Infact your goalie still allowed more goals in the series and your players blocked a ton of shots. Congrats on the cheesy win though.

A fat, happy, full, sated TBL team who's been eating at the All You Can Eat buffet for the last 2 years, with nothing to prove, still won the Will vs. Skill battle

Remarkable that the hungry, starving for a win, desperate TOR couldn't summon the will to finally close out a series

This narrative has always been amusing.

The Champs that cared enough to win a 2nd cup in a row now suddenly don't really care about making history by winning their 3rd cup in a row. 2 cups meant everything to them, 3 cups meant nothing. Great theory,

Except that you are justify this by basing it on assumptions about things that has never happened. But hey, if your adolescent behaviour makes you feel like a man go for it bruh

Making it out of the first round was nothing if the Leafs finally did it this year but now it's a crowning achievement for teams when comparing past seasons. The goal is the Cup bud.

Man I can just imagine the list of excuses if the Leafs had lost Marner through injury in the first period, given all of the whining about the refs.
How bout them Bolts losing Point one if their best offensive and defensive players and just going about their business and shutting down the Leafs. No wonder they’re back to back champs!

You guys want to be the centre of the hockey universe until it is inconvenient for you and hurts your feelings?

Leaf fans deserve everything they are getting right now.

LOL, are you suggesting that the team that hasn't won in years and have blown several leads DOESN'T have more drive and hunger to win compared to the team that has won it all 2 years in a row? And that TBL should be more hungry?

c'mon now, let's be reality

TBL was ripe for the picking, TOR couldn't consolidate their gains after strong wins and keep it going to get over the hump

Motivated to win cup #2.

But suddenly don't care at all about winning cup #3.

Makes so much sense.
