Player Discussion Tage Thompson 2

I've never been so wrong on a player. I don't understand how he put it all together but this is really giving me Josh Allen vibes in terms of a longshot, raw physical guy who just somehow puts it all together. Different path, of course, but there are parallels.

Was just thinking about this. I might be a little bit more shocked with Tage. With Allen, we knew there was a very small chance he could turn into the absolute stud that he is now. NOBODY saw this coming from Tage, going from borderline NHLer to Chara/Tim Connolly/Ovechkin(yes a bit hyperbole) clone in such a short period of time

Do we know the scout or person for the Sabres responsible for evaluation on TT in that deal ? Was it Bott's/Sexton (gulp) in the end ?

Tage was godlike tonight, BJs were awful but that's what great players do to bad teams, he willed the puck into the net when he wanted.

There was an article that came out about him talking about the struggles being part of the journey with Krebs, I have great faith we have the right people leading this team. Just need to get the right missing parts and bright days are ahead.

And release.. Andreychuk took a pounding and made his living around the crease. Hard nosed mule type

Might have the most tipped goals in NHL history if that's a stat. I'd lay a healthy bet Andreychuk is in the top 5 all time
I think they track them now, but they only started doing so around 2009 or 2010 so obviously Andreychuk's totals are an unknown, but even someone like Vanek who was also quite good at deflections/tips would be missing numbers from his prime years.

This could be one of the biggest "both teams win" trade in the history of sports. So incredibly worth it for both teams.
At this point, I am officially saying I’m so glad we did that trade. Props to Botts for wanting Thompson as I’d take him over Thomas or Kyrou at this point.
In a vacuum StL wins, but considering that keeping ROR during those years wouldn't have made a difference for the team, but that having TT now is very likely to make a difference soon (ie as a playoff team), then I almost consider it a win for Buffalo...although it will really bug me if Johnson walks.

If he walks do we get a 4th second this year? If so, maybe not the worst thing as we can bundle those up for a potential impact RHD in the first round this year?

I rather be competitive 4 years ago instead going into another mini rebuild (which was not intended, but happened due to skewed asset management.
So Its nice to have the things now, but if I have the choice I rather get a top end player who is ready in 2018 instead of those last 4 years.

I don't think ROR would have made our team a playoff team. I think he would have made it just good enough for us to not draft Dahlin, cozens, and company.

If I have the choice I rather have sensible GM add to that instead of the last 4 years of bottom feeder hockey.
and check your facts, Dahlin was drafted before the ROR trade

Didn't they joke that Phil Esposito scored 717 goals that probably travelled a total of 717 feet?
