Someone said you could never compare Tage w mario lemieuw Its dicey Tage has a croquet name . As far as playin da hockey as good as our beloved french Canadian gods. Well the sky is da limit

We might have a new level as tage thompson, mr Thompson to you. Scouted and deified by cia scout sabremike. If he can turn it on and bully guys cleanly off the puck and slow the game dowm SO much that hes breakin ankles and embarrassing goalies, why not mario . We'll see but he shows signs he hasnt even touched his ceiling , showing up w HEART ( sabres against the cheaty world) Nightly

Cia, false dissent eulusian rites produced quick mind. We're all capable , right now tage is using all 9 of his senses.
" they say that cane caught able throwin loaded die, ace of spades behind his ear and him not thinkin twice..."

Just noticed that ESPN still thinks of him as a winger for some reason.
From their fantasy page where he's listed as a RW

Spin: Thompson had yet another spectacular outing in 17:41 of ice time as he led his team to victory by scoring Buffalo's sixth goal of the game at the 6:39 mark of the third period. The 25-year-old winger is coming off a 68 point campaign last season, and is on pace to significantly surpass those numbers this year with 26 points in his first 19 outings.

I know I know, it's ESPN, but seriously his move to center is like THE story about him. Tage Thompson Stats, News, Bio | ESPN

I was wondering why the Avs crew was framing their coverage as "A battle of two power wingers: Rantanen vs Thompson" Espn said it, it must be so. Lazy bums the lot.

I wonder what you would have written 4 years ago
Tuch has nearly a PPG, Krebs is about what Thompson was.
So if you compare the trades at similar stages it isn't even worth discussing the 2 cap dumps from the ROR trade
Have you seen Krebs play hockey?

3 years ago, we would have asked "Have you seen Tage play hockey??"

Patience.
To be honest, Tage might just be the exception, it rarely happens. I'm definitely not done with Krebs yet, but they also can't wait years for Mitts or Krebs to find their game, especially Mitts at that age.

Not me.

Not that I saw what he is now and continuing to turn into, but from day 1 had better shot, could skate better and had nice hands. Krebs has 1 of those 3 which may have worked out well in the 80s.

Comparing the 2 is outrageous.

Krebs will be lucky to have any type of staying power in the NHL.

A guy we picked up on waivers showed more in 2 periods than he's shown the entire season.

I am sure you observed his shot scoring 18 goals in 150 GP with patience, before he broke out last year.

Tage couldn’t skate. That’s why he’s called a giraffe.

Sure pal

Why are people so hard on him? Don't blame him for Botterill's mistakes.

Tage hopefully can score 30 goals in the AHL next year and give us hope for the future.

I'd leave him on the 4th line and hope he works his way up. He doesn't seem to mind working the boards or getting his nose dirty in front of the net. Let him establish himself as a banger.
Thankfully Thompson paid no attention to the comments on this board.

I liked the guy from day 1.

Tage went down to the AHL and put in the work -- after that first post you quoted. And then he got recalled only to hurt his shoulder immediately in his first game back in Buffalo in the '19-20 season.

As for Buff's quote, in a way, Thompson did work himself up the lineup but it had much to do with not only his willingness to do whatever was asked of him but also Granato's belief in him and the move from wing to center. In decades of watching hockey, I don't think I've ever seen a regular winger at development levels and initially at the NHL level move center and not just maintain but thrive after the change.
