Player Discussion Tage Thompson 2

A

Thankfully Thompson paid no attention to the comments on this board.

I liked the guy from day 1.
Good job, do you want a cookie? Did you actually see anything in him or did you just huff the "he'll come good eventually" hopium that wasn't based on anything but wishful thinking?

Oh boy. You have yet to meet sabremike and his love of Tage
Yes,

I saw all his giraffe gifs and noticed he calls himself the Minister of Giraffe Rebellion and Propaganda.

And now people are offering me cookies.

Nice

Yes, I saw a big guy with nice speed, great hands and a great shot.

Who knew that these traits could wind up being traits be of a good hockey player?

Tage was flying at his first prospects camp, but struggled to bring that to a higher competition. I remember there were some "won the trade" rumblings then.

Tage is an interesting case, and does mirror Josh Allen a bit. Will he end up being proof that talent can take longer ti develop, or will he be the reason teams hang on to guys for too long hoping they break out?

Bringing up old posts to dunk on them probably ain’t the best way to start posting at this forum. Just a tip
Maybe we can relentlessly pick on another player but come up with a new animal?

I vote for Krebs, and for the animal, well duh, A Sloth!!

At least it will be new and fresh

Off topic, but I went to sloth preserve in Honduras last week and got to hold one. Those danged claws man.... they are long and strong.

Very cool experience!

Interesting

Fwiw, didn't think sloth for Krebs because he's long and strong. I imagine you can do the math.

More than anything, I'm questioning why almost an entire message board crucified Thompson unmercifully and unnecessarily for 2 years, when I thought from day 1 he's shown more promise than the Sloth has.

Tage was a disaster when he was 20 on this team. 12 whole points in 65 games. And that came after a half year of nhl experience previously.

Krebs put up twice as much production in less games, with a less nhl experience last year at the same age. Now he’s stuck playing part time and doing it often with Mittelstadt and Olofsson who no one this year can play with. Quinn couldn’t. Peterka couldn’t. Asplund couldn’t. Skinner couldn’t. And yes…even current Tage couldn’t. Olofsson had to be removed because he managed to tank Tage Thompson.

It is nice to see the Buffalo Sabres showing great improvement after years of frustration. I am glad that Tage Thompson so far has been a stud and completely smashed the perception that dealing Ryan O'Reilly was a disaster trade. I am not sure what Ryan Johnson will develop into, however, I would much rather have a 24 year old Tage Thompson than Ryan O'Reilly since he became a Blue, especially considering the Sabres need to rebuild since the trade.
