GDT: Switzerland Vs Germany | 12/30 @ 6PM | TSN/NHLN

They don't have to be more than a one line team because that one line has enough skill to win against teams like Switzerland or Slovakia.
If the Swiss team would have had as much depth as you claim they would clearly outplay other teams lower lines. They are not however and thats why they have been outscored 1-18 in this tournament.

If you talk about the level of the top 6, then yes Germany is a one line team. The rest of the team however isn't worse than what the bottom teams like Switzerland have to offer and thats why they will advance

Why is there so much hate for the Swiss team here? It’s a down year for them, it happens. They’re still competing hard right now but lack finishing talent. No need to kick them while they’re down

There is no hate for the Swiss team. They have an average roster but lack the high end skill other nations have. I expect them to be a lot better next year.
It's just hilarious how some in this thread act like they are a way better team than Germany besides Stützle and Peterka. Thats how the conversation unfolded

I’ve never seen someone so blindly defend a team while they’re getting hammered. I guess this is HFBoards though, so it happens.

We'll see, 2003 looks quite weak, too. Some hope for 2004 and 2005. The main difference today is Stützle and Peterka. The rest looks quite equal.

I'll explain it to you one last time. Our coach got sacked so the clowns were able to install themselves using a dummy coach.
Now, our best players aren't in the position to succeed this year which is why even those who played very well last year are invisible this year. They're spread all over the lineup, playing with plugs. They're not on the ice in key moments like PP or vs opponents top lines and they're not getting nearly enough ice time. Our worst players are getting way too much icetime and they're on the ice when they shouldn't be, like with our best player or vs top lines. This is why our team looks this bad. I fully agree that this is our worst team in years...but with solid goaltending and last change, we really should be able to win vs a one line team and come at least close on a bad day. Period. The fact that we're not even close is all about coaching. But again. Read my posts before the game started. I called it. I'm not at all surprised. I called it would be Canonica playing vs Stützle and it was him with the giveaway.
 
"Quote me when a non German top line player scores a goal" coming from the guy who's entire team has half as many goals as the non Stutzle/Peterka/Elias Germans this tournament.

Oh, I forgot, that's all coaching :sarcasm:

I like the Swiss, but it's a down year for them, and even if I accept the premise. The Germans first line is so much better that they can and will win on that alone. It does make them a better team.

I don't defend anything. It's our worst team in years. Still, they deserve to be put in a position to play up to their abilities and that's never been the case this year because of the clowns who got a very good coach sacked. It's a sad story. If they wanna coach, at least do it officially and accept responsibility. Like this, it's just bs.

You'd look exactly like the Austrians without that top line. That's the reality. Your other players hardly ever create anything with the puck, even against a bad, brutally coached Swiss team.
 
Stutzle just took this game over completely.

Zegras, Stutzle, and Cozens seem to have the All Star forward group locked up.
