It astonishes me that a team like Windsor who had so many players graduate and traded away or still away at NHL camp and they are still winning. Why??? Is it good coaching? Is it better management? Is it better drafting? Is it better trading? Makes you wonder doesn't it.

Pathetic effort from the backend out... Too bad Zulich has no hockey IQ. Means he has no hockey connections and no candidates for a coach and GM. All trust remains with Paps... Wolves play like a last place team exactly where they are in the standings.

Offensively u guys are fun to watch. Some really talented Fs. Defensively I'll just say no comment lol. Feel for Ranger on that centre ice goal. Happens to the best of them.

Told WJ on our board, but after Hoover's goal as he went by the bench he winked at Musty & he turned to whoever was next to him & went "wait was that Hoovy!?!?". He couldn't believe it was him who had that nice of a goal. Was such an innocent, funny reaction.

Papineau's early season blunders!

1. Signing Mauro.
2. Signing Mauro which causes Derbidge to see less ice time and goes home.
3. Trading Hoover
4. Keeping Robinson instead of going after a much more productive OA early on. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride and admit you made a mistake on making the trade for him.
5. Not making the right personnel changes to move out guys who continue to be undisciplined. Sometimes swapping out guys who are just not working out may help the team. Why he holds onto certain guys specially our 19-20 year olds who are not working out.
6. Keeping Duncanson to coach this team. What a mess this team is. Its a comedy of errors. No systems, structure and he just seems like he has no idea how to coach at this level. The development of these young players are at stake. What excuse will Paps have when Musty and Mania are 19 and they are still in last place.
7.Did he trade Derbidge yet??? 3 weeks and counting for a 17 year old with size, toughness and skill who we could of used tonight.

Interesting being at the game tonight . T3am is struggling for sure. Playing tight and you can tell with puck just bouncing around. Nothing really smooth.trying to make the hard play rather than the easy smart play.
Some thoughts.
Musty really struggling, confidence?trying too hard to impress scouts? I can't believe he is not better
McCallum might have been most effective forward tonight
I don't know if you can play toure and anania together. You know each of them will be caught up the ice at least once a shift, you just hope it is not both at the same time.
Chromium really needs work. His balance is way off, he seems to reach out when skating, particularly backwards and gets out over his toes and stumbles. He also pushes his passes and not shoot them. He hung Holmes out to dry a few times tonight.
I know how some people hear moan about the lines but you can see duncs predicament tonight. No assadourian he is forced to have Mauro in the lineup. Mauro is just not up to it yet. So if you try to protect Mauro and manage his icetime you either have to not play his linemates and basically go with three lines or try and fit them in somehow. Today that would have been Boudreau and larmand who would have their icetime cut way back. Or you play Mauro a regular shift and pray bad things don't happen.
Anyway this my last game for a month. I will be just seeing highlights from afar. Hopefully December will be betterl

And fall guy for Papineau, but mostly due to no interest from better coaches to go further from home to a team in need of a 2-3 yr rebuild imo.
But after 2 lottery picks and a probable top 7 pick this spring, coaches just might be lining up for a potential spring board to the next level.

Goyette is all they have...

They say good players help make the coach look good too. Wolves don't have to many of those.

Had to chuckle last night when McCallum crosschecked a player while he laid on the ice.

I wonder what kind of interviews they give these kids prior to drafting.

I can't emphasize enough thst R.P. should be replaced. This is his hockey team that he constructed.

I don’t think the wolves will finish last. Oshawa and Hamilton are a better bet for that I think, and Niagara is off to a disastrous start which might take a while or coaching change to overcome.

Run and Gun only works when a team understands how to be responsible defensively so you never get caught on odd man rushes. This team isn’t willing to commit to the defensive side of the puck..after the Walton goal at end of first team played better in the 2nd and missed several clear cut break always. What happens if one of those go in? Then the Center ice dump in goal…Joe we love you! It happens, move on buddy!! A little desperation seeing Konyen back with Goyette and Delic but it worked. Villie or Konyen play on line one with Goyette and Delic, full stop! No more tinkering. Walton is going to be awesome, but until after deadline he plays 3rd line mins…too many give away sun our own end. Too many times to count our players were on the wrong side of 50/50 pucks. Lots of Draft eligible players who want to light it up, guess what kids, NHL love responsible and defensively sound players!! Let’s regroup Wolves and get after it today!!

Run and gun works if you’re as good as the early ‘80s Oilers. It’s not even exciting if you’re watching the 2022 Icedogs try playing that way.
The NHL draft majority is generally made up of winners.

Fat chance Musty scores 40! Ever!!! He’s too slow and only gets his goals in space which doesn’t always happen with any player. You need to move, cycle, and find the space. He’s stationary in the offensive zone. Loses the puck more often and quite easy to defend. In fact he has shown very little aggressive play this year. Has me question of his shoulder is not 100%. May be a reason for his floating around and not engaging physically for a bigger body. Goyette engages, mixes up deep and imposes himself to win puck battles. The fact is he’s the only one doing it consistently. McCallum can’t keep a puck from bobbling off his stick, Larmand and Boudreau were like Houdini last night. Pharand was lost with new line mates again. Mauro just doesn’t cut it. Delic’s timing was off. Konyen was ok. Walton and Villy are rookies and do their job but really should have some vets leading and taking charge and helping them along. DeGrazia only shows up once every 10 games.

Defensively Anania was a complete disaster last night. Mania didn’t fair much better. Holmes is babysitting Chromiak who is very green. Toure is good but still just a rookie in this league. Collins struggling early on. Doesn’t appear in game shape. Ranger had an off night.

Defence is a huge mess right now because the coverage is lacking. Turnovers and failure to clear the pucks from our zone. Maybe Moxam was a huge help more than we know. Seems to be doing extremely well with the Cubs!

You think this teams window to win is with Musty, Mania and 18 year old Villy? If the Wolves don’t have Goyette they won’t win anything. Sorry this team youth group is not the best youth group out there. Sadly they will be on the third rebuild from Paps.

I believe wj is being realistic. While he can be very direct in his writing style, I agree with a many of his observations , some I don't, but he makes me examine mine and either validate them or adjust them sometimes. Dirty 12 you and others make me do the same. Some posters are great comedic relief and i would it Sit beside them at a game and hear them in real time.
Overall I believe this board is a great place to discuss things and have some fun talking hockey.

Don't mistake upset for passion. Just tired of seeing the same disorganized play. Is it the lack of personel or lack of coaching and developement. Continuous line juggling breeds no consistency. Leave the Delic Konyen and Goyette Line together. It ain't broke so don't fix it. Boudreau Pharand and Larmand seem to have some chemistry. Play McCallum Musty and Degrazia together. Then Asadorian with the kids. Fix your player tracking and defensive zone coverage. Pp1 Collins Goyette Konyen Delic and Pharand, pp2 Toure Holmes Musty Degrazia Villeneuve or Boudreau. Leave the lines for a bit. Too many guys playing multiple positions getting caught out of position in the defensive zone. Having two different looks on the pp is good. Forces other teams to adjust. Walton can also see some PP time in the second unit.

It’s very possible Papineau is unable to complete the task.

I am quite certain Goyette is not leading the wolves on any kind of run without a top-top 4 D and G.
NB back end of ‘04 born DiVincentis, Nelson, Mathurin, Lukin, and OA Christopolous is nearly out of reach for next year’s wolves. I dare say Miss’ top ‘04 born forwards in Beck, Lavoie, and Veccia is better than the wolves. That is the starting point. The wolves have to add to be on equal footing, then add to match other team’s adds. Surplus picks can disappear with the addition of one very good graduating player.
I want to see more than one good run by the wolves given an ‘05 core of Musty, Chromiak, Mania, Pharrand, Assadourian and a surplus of future picks.
