I find the wolves management group a little silly

You have an ex coach who is the assistant GM who now is an assistant on the bench for his son who is a former player of the team and now is head coach. Say that twice

I'm not sure why Papineau would hire his assistants son behind the bench. This can't end well for him. If a new GM comes in he'll have to work with father and son? Weird.

Just wish there was some thinking outside of the box. Ok, you have a locals running your hockey team but how about some different eyes and perspectives.

Yup including Krawchuk. Give him the lions share. We need him next year. As for the rest of the kids drop older D and allow Bishop, Bruce, Walton and Protz to get in games. We have to build for next year. No more gambles on picks either. Using pics on Hage, Savage, Morrow, Gillespie all are to be going US route. Just draft Ontario kids who will come to camp and want to play in the OHL. We need to bank pics to make a splash next year.

Outside rd1 kids don't want to come here. Papineau is a joke in the hockey world. Don't blame these kids for going US route. Papineau got turned down from Morrow then he was top goalie for tram canada east in world jr a challenge. Just an example of how kids choose to stay away

Team is 4-9-1 with HC Dereck Mckenzie.
The problem is what he has to work with
Failed to develop a goalie last year under Weeks. Resulted in wasting an OA spot on a goalie this year
Holmes/Boudreau haven’t progressed from last year
Failed to develop a solid 2nd line with a return 1st line of Goyete/Konyen/Delic
Veterans Larmand/McCallum proving they were not worth the draft position they were taken
Owner not hockey savvy and listening to personnel who are outdated

Let’s not say Mccallum wasn’t warranted a first round pic he wouldn’t of made it out of the first the development in Sudbury hasn’t been good imo

He's not hockey savvy. Hes's said it it himself basketball is his first love which I get, as it's a great sport. But he needs to hire a proper GM. No local. Someone who knows the league well.

Is there any chance we lose Goyette, Delic or Musty at the deadline since the team can’t compete once again ?

Yep, Il ask again, please tell me how this team is so much better than when Dunc was here…….I won’t hold my breath. Yes defence was horrid at times last night but let’s call a spade a spade. WE NEED A GOALIE! That should be obvious to anyone who watched the game. No wonder the Wolves lose the game plan at times. It must be incredibly deflating to be trying your ass off only to have soft goals go in while the other goalie is standing tall. Hell play Krawchuck, no way I think he’d be worse, he looked great last night.
What is so maddening is that a times the Wolves control the play even against good teams only to have a soft goal go in and change all the momentum. The score was not indicative of the play, look at the shots. One team was getting the saves and one wasn’t. Simple. As far as all those clowns behind the Sudbury bench tripping over themselves don’t ask me what’s going on. Hashtag fire Papineau

I’m still waiting for someone to remind what Papineau‘s credentials are?

No. They are all back next season
Ya and likely to be wasted again next season with this clown of a GM.

The wolves need a goalie of the nesr future for sure. But the D is the current problem; that is what happens when a GM does not draft a D until the 4th or 5th round for four consecutive drafts.
Thank heavens Chromiak showed up and Mania lasted until pick (41?)
Edit: first pick of round 4 at #60

He got three gifts in Villy Goyette and Musty. Outside of that nothing. Very little from 2nd and 3rd line in terms of production. Not one gem from any of his drafts outside of the obvious. Nobody has yet to sell me the fact that next year is the year.

Its kind of my point he got blue chips and I’m pretty sure Papineau promised a competitive team to get them to show up North. Its not even close to contention. North Bay switched completely after getting the first overall pick Ty Nelson.

North Bay switched completely when they fired Butler.
Not really. GM - Butler assistant. Coach - Butler assistant. A change of pace from a personality gone stale probably helped.
Conference final last season was mostly with 19-20 yr olds acquired by Butler.
Arnsby, Christopolous twins, Ertel, Mathurin, Lukin, Kennedy, MacDonald, Zito, Procyszyn, Podoliouhk, … Denis is of the same mind set of the guy that hired him.
Number 1 OHL pick and number 1 import pick, that almost immediately changed the battalion fortunes.

I wonder why you talk about Mania being soft when Holmes, Anania, Robinson and Collins are worst. I think Collins had 10 turnovers in the first alone. So many coaches behind the bench but defence is not improving and guys look like they don’t even want to be there.
Looks like a happy family reunion back there! Might it be time to let Derek do his own thing?

Dario has been taken to the cleaners and probably has no idea how it is playing out. Reminds me of the Laurentian fiasco.

Stan did not acquire Zito. That was Dennis. Only Arnsby, Paul C and Ertle were drafted by him. Kennedy only played sparingly during the regular season. Ertle didn’t play for us last season. Zito played his second game with the troops last night. You’re way off bud. I could point out more errors in your post but I think that’s enough.

Yeah but the same could be said with mostly every team. Most GMS are unliked by a player or two because of promises made that are not fulfilled mostly because the player doesn’t live up to his billing for whatever reason. Can’t say Sudbury is the only team to have this problem. My point is for our management to make sure picks on players who want to stay in Ontario not go the US route. And most are pretty clear on their intentions by draft day.

Butler was mostly in a sick bed; Denis did the bulk of the GM work proceeding the 2019 draft.
Zito and those other players mentioned were to illustrate Butler and Denis are on the same page in terms of character players with a 200’ game.
And the forecheck and right side stretch breakout dates back to Dineen, then the Swedish import D that followed.
