The difference between big programs like London is that they expect to win. Here people are used to losing so they become losers. Have some faith ! Papineau seems to have a lot of trading assets to get a real shot at it. Should be a fun year.

Most winning programs of late have not concerned themselves about the next season, only concerned themselves with doing what they can to capitalize on the present opportunity. That would be upgrading the OAs and parting with some of Taylor, Walton, Mania, Chromiak to acquire the very best available.
I am pretty sure Guelph and Saginaw will take a real shot.

Who says he won’t do what needs to be done ?

For me: Mayer#1, Punnet#2 and we keep Anania…both will cost a ton but Pete’s will be more willing to move for picks(they have none) and Barrie (if willing to trade to a rival) want prospects as they have a healthy draft pick cupboard. IMO. Both of these LD are differen
Do not assume that the Petes will trade Sam Mayer for draft picks only. While they need to replenish their draft picks they also need to add players with OHL experience as they only return 12 players with OHL experience and have only five prospects who were drafted in rounds 1-5 in the last two drafts. He is not an excess overage player as he is likely going to start the season along with Connor Lockhart and either Jax Dubois or Cam Gauvreau as one of the Petes three overage players. If he is traded it will likely be at the deadline. The price then is higher than what excess overage players cost earlier in the season. The asking price could include a player in addition to draft picks. I believe he could get the Petes a depth player and a couple of draft picks. They will also have an opportunity to replenish their draft picks by trading players like Owen Beck, Donovan McCoy and Konnor Smith for young players and multiple draft picks at the deadline plus the draft picks they will get for playoff MVP, Michael Simpson who will likely be traded early in the season. Mike Oke is one of the best general managers in the league and he will get the most for the players he trades this coming season.

If returning a player for Mayer, it is likely another OA. He is not Xhekaj; or even Guryev, who like Philips a few years ago could surprisingly return to the OHL before Christmas. They did not return young players.
Oke could trade Mayer, Lockhart, McCoy … for premium picks, and acquire replacement level players for 5-8 picks or a *15th. Deadline packages of OAs like Hayes & White are a rare occurrence. The only individual certain to be coveted by several teams and return a high upside 16-17 yr old plus premium picks is Beck.

I’m not sure anyone said he won’t, and I’m not sure he will be willing to pay the price that Peterborough, (Sarnia, NB), Hamilton X2, Guelph, Erie, Oshawa (NB, SSM) did to win a championship.
I am quite certain Guelph & Saginaw will this season. I really hope the wolves are not this seasons version of the ‘67s. I think the wolves need to add enough that NB feels there is no other good option but to sell. Facing a team in the playoffs that has half a roster experience losing consecutive conference finals is not ideal.

If I were Papineau….

Mayer
Beck

For

Walton
Walton
MCallum
Multiple picks at least 2 2nds and 2 3rds

Wolves do this kind of move early then can still add later as they will still have too many RD and few extra overage players around. And maybe and extra goalie to deal. Things will be extremely interesting this year.

It would probably be my last year as a season ticket holder if we went for something like that. there's lots of star players I'd be willing to part with that much for, but Beck is not one of them.

You heard it here first, but Beck will be in Saginaw at or before the TDL.

We need a player like Hayes from Flint to complete the first line before the season starts. That puts everybody in the right spot. Having Delic to center the third line is championship material. That’s how you win a cup.

Owen Beck is likely going to be the most sought after player at the trade deadline this coming season. He has Memorial Cup experience and is the type of player a team needs if they want to win a championship. He could be the best two way forward in the OHL and is the best face off player in the league.

The Petes are going to want more than that for Owen Beck. They will want either a 16 year old or 17 year old player who was drafted in the 1st round and multiple draft picks including 2nd and 3rd round draft picks for him.

I was under the impression Goyette was moved/moving to LW, a position he would play as pro.
Musty-Villneuve-the big F add
Goyette-Delic-Konyen
Walton-Pharrand-McCallum
There will be several moves needed to seriously contend, I think.

This has to be the worst roster I have seen so far.

It is the wolves’ current top 8 and any RW you choose.

I can do better; get off your wallet :)
D.Giroux-O.Beck-G.Hayes
Goyette-Villeneuve-Musty
F.Xhekaj-Delic-Konyen
Yearwood-Podolioukh-Coughlin

5’6 Giroux on the first line lolll ok GM of the year lolll but a bit better. If you want local Martin is our man

Ok. I prefer big players, and Gilmartin might be cheaper than Giroux. I do think Giroux was pretty darn good against Saginaw in the playoffs, and could be in line for a breakout season offensively playing between Dann & Hayes.
😂

Ur dreamin I wouldn’t give a bag of pucks for xhkhai
Geez man, that make believe roster was a tongue in cheek reply. Add five forwards and a couple of D, may possibly need to split a bag of pucks between Xhekaj & Podolioukh.
To get Pastujov, DelBelBelluz, & DelMastro; Sarnia had to part with 18, 17, & 16 yr old first round picks plus several future picks

What if (hypothetically) very little were to change personnel wise?...Would we compete in the division?

Musty Goyette Konyen
Walton Delic Pharand
Yearwood Villineuve McCallum
Mauro Taylor Coughlin

Mania Anania
Collins Toure
Chromiak Walton

Taylor in the lineup based on his draft position and Walton in the lineup based on what I watched from him in Espo last season.

Our division is open for the taking I think...just wondering if it could be done sitting status quo
