What if (hypothetically) very little were to change personnel wise?...Would we compete in the division?

Musty Goyette Konyen
Walton Delic Pharand
Yearwood Villineuve McCallum
Mauro Taylor Coughlin

Mania Anania
Collins Toure
Chromiak Walton

Taylor in the lineup based on his draft position and Walton in the lineup based on what I watched from him in Espo last season.

Our division is open for the taking I think...just wondering if it could be done sitting status quo
I think that the current roster of players is plenty good to start the year with. Between Conor Walton, Protz, Bruce, Hayes, Jackson you likely have someone who can perform above expectations as well. Add in Kieron Walton, Villneuve heading into their 17 year old seasons. Coughlin and Yearwoods strong finish to the year, Musty with a full healthy offseaon/start of season. All the players who went to dev camps. You have a lot of players who could perform above expectations, it's going to be fun to see what we truly have.

Maybe! It's a strong roster.

But why? Why sit status quo? Why not give yourself the best chance to win this season? Next year Goyette, McCallum, Toure, Anania, Collins are all gone! I wouldn't understand the logic of just standing pat. If they don't push their chips in this year I'm affraid Paps never would!

Mauro will be in tough to make the team

What about Lucas Di Giantommaso. Signed out of camp last season.

So does this make any difference in him reporting? Would be a really big get if he comes to play in North America!

The Wolves have a somewhat slim, but better chance of getting Dvorsky now that the Blues can dictate where he goes. Betting that he’s likely to get some AHL time and see how he does there. They almost certainly want him playing in North America to get used to a rougher style of hockey.

I flip-Flopped between Mauro and Di G as well...I wen't with Mauro simply because the coaching staff last year seemed to like him and gave him more ice time than I personally would've liked. But I agree the spot is there for the taking and I think DiGiantommaso can be that guy.

Good read

"but there’s no question, we want every one of them to be thinking of one thing, and that is getting to Saginaw.”
Sure we all want a winner. But I don’t think we will see Collins and Mania early on in the season. Concerning for me as we are already short on vet experience after Anania on the left side. Sure I like the kids to play and see what they got but if we start slow and give up points early on in the season Pap may be desperate closer to the deadline and that will increase the price on any deal imo. He really does need to make one deal early to get help on that left side of the defence imo.

Let's hope the Blues want him here. That would make for a very lethal top 6
Although this does seem encouraging, I was always expecting 1st round picks to sign ELC contracts year 1.

I think they would want him in the AHL. Unfortunately, I don't think this changes anything. It's NHL, AHL or Sweedan in that order.

Hope I'm wrong. Would likely have to trade Chromiak if he does get assigned to Sudbury. Might be a good problem to have as long as more than 2 teams have a free Euro spot! lol

When R.P. goes shopping I would hope his initial target would someone to who could enhance the PP which was not good last season.

Number 1 target for sure! A mobile LHD that generates offence…

Not many to be had. First names that pop in my mind are Sova and Donovan. Erie probably won't trade Sova. So that leaves Brantford. Would have to pay thru the roof to acquire a guy like Donovan. Could be a good trade target for the Wolves.

Bring back Hoover. Would be a good fit

Hoover plays for his hometown sting. Don't see a need to bring him back at all.

Probably would never happen, but Hoover would be a low cost, 19 year old LD that the Wolves have familiarity with. Would add some nice physicality to the back end.

We got some good young Dmen coming up, but this is a "go for it year". Priority will be finding older experienced players, and upgrades. With Mania and Collins potentially sidelined to start the season due to their recoveries, finding an older vet LD early on in the season at a reasonable cost could really help stabilize the D core.

Wasn't the trade made because he wanted more ice time? I don't see this making sence for him or the team short or long-term.

Sova or Donovan. Maybe Mathurin. Slim pickings
Yeah, won’t know until near the Christmas break which ‘04s will be available.
I’m not completely comfortable dealing with the Colts, but Punnet would be my top target for all-purpose LD.
