Larmand should not be an OA.He was undisciplined and did not have a productive enough season to merit consideration.Toure was our toughest D to play against last year and will be better offensively this year after getting acclimated to the OHL.
Although I don't disagree with you about Larmand, you talk about him not being selected due to undisciplined play, and then come back with suggesting Toure to be kept, who was our penalty leader last season! Just seems like a contradiction. Toure was top 10 in penalties for a defenceman last year as was Larmand as a forward. I would argue they are both equally undisciplined. Maybe a lot of his penalties we're due to his size and nature of playing defense but they both rank in or around the same spot for their position. Toure taking 15 more penalty minutes than Larmand. Anania is better overall than Toure but that's opinion not fact.

Toure is by far a much better skater than Anania and his gap control is far superior.Anania is susceptible to outside rushes and struggles to get to the puck first in the corners. His main strength is that he is a gamer and will put his body on the line to block shots.Toure being so tall had many penalties called against him on far smaller players. He has the ability to take the puck from end to end and is an underrated passer.Larmand was a second round pick that has not lived up to expectations, and Toure is a free agent invite/signee that has more than lived up to expectations

Like I said it's an opinion. Anania is solid. He's not flashy. Good puck mover who makes the right play. He's not an elite skater and he isn't 6' 7" so he doesn't jump off the page at you like Dijbril does. I don't recall seeing him repeatedly get beaten wide but I didn't watch every game. If you saw that I'll take your word for it. He gets his point shots through. He has double the points and shots that Toure has and half the penalty minutes. If I could only pick one I would pick Anania. You prolly take Toure. I like both! I'd take both over Larmand.

If you bring an upgrade in who do you drop?

Good question but why is everyone assuming it would be an OA upgrade. How about an addition of an 03 like Nelson

(Ty) Nelson ‘04?
probably will not be available, and definitely not before January when an ‘07-1st plus 2-2nds & 3-3rds could be offered. There probably won’t be another similar RD on the market, so the cost could be even more.

4th rounders usually play at least! Isaak Phillips, Liam Ross, Andre Anania were all hits with 4th round picks! So I see what your saying. But....

It's not like we didn't have a 4th rounder in the draft. We took Jaydon Connors 3 picks before Kitchener took MacNeil.

So to me, let's judge the scouting staff and the guy who makes the call on draft day. You gave up a later 4th rounder to take a swing at Hage, then you pick Connors with your 4th. Connors has to be better than MacNeil 3 years from now then who cares about the trade. That's how I'll judge the trade.

And that's why I'm probably delusional because you still lost an asset for nothing? But it's a swing. I like swings.
Connors needs to grow a bit, but he will be special.

The conversation started with the value of trading McCallum. I interpreted that as upgrading the OA spots. Of course, we could upgrade with a 19-year-old in a trade. We aren't limited to just OA upgrades. I don't think a RD is the need though. We need a pillar on the left side. Chromiak, Toure, Collins and Mania all right handed. It's just odd to have almost all of your D being right handed.

That 19 year old upgrade would cost more but upgrades are obviously not limited to OA spots. I find our OA are probably better this upcoming season then what they have been the last 5 seasons! But I do beleive this is the year to push your chips forward and go for it.

That being said, if they do bring in an 19-year-old D man they probably aren't keeping 2 OA RD when they have to cut down to 3. Which makes our conversation even more relevant on which one to keep.

Curious to what this is based on? Have you seen him play? I've obviously not, but a half-point per game d-man who is 5'8" and was 8th in scoring on his team does not scream special to me.

Regardless, looking forward to training camp to see the new draftees on the ice.

Anania is LD. Left shot. IMO he's a lock as one of our OA's to start the season.

Sorry, I accidentally listed him on the wrong side. Not sure why, I know he's a left shot put him down by mistake. My comment still holds true. There's a hole on the left side, especially if they keep Toure in stead of Anania as Cobra suggests.

From what I’ve learned character and fearless work ethic, a D in Villy clothing. Never seen him play either but a dynamic player is what I’ve learned. Probably a year away…

Everyone loves Disneyland! Isn't the real Disneyland essentially a kids Disneyland? Trying to take this as a compliment. Disneyland is viewed by many as the elite attraction in the amusement park business. So Disneyland is the NHL. Wouldn't that make the CHL a junior version of the NHL? The comment doesn't even make sense!

Arizona's focus was on D. They wanted Reinbacher, settled with Simachev. Too many good forwards left on the board for that not to be true. Take a late first-round prospect 6 overall? Weak D draft! Huge reach! Even he was shocked!

I can see a conversation happening between Arizona and Dvorski about how he would feel about playing in Sudbury and he may very well have said absolutely not. But I don't believe in any way shape, or form that this is the reason not the draft a player you like! Teams don't pass on a player because they won't report to a junior club. That's laughable! I've said it all year that there's no chance he's coming. So this is not surprising.

This 100% sounds made up and some Euro or Russian agent wanted to take a shot at our junior system in Canada that still has the most drafted players in the NHL than any other league or association in the world.

Well, it’s from a KHL account so I wouldn’t get too upset about what “Commie ECHL” thinks.

I can tell you for a fact that this is false. NHL teams absolutely consider where prospects will play the next season because it’s a vital part of their development.

That said, in the top 10 of the draft, it usually isn’t important or not nearly as important as for later picks. There’s no way the Coyotes think Sweden is a bad development path and therefore pick two Russians.

Of course they do, but once the NHL team signs the player, the team has at the very least a strong suggestion of where their asset plays to enhance their development. No one refuses to draft a player based on a refusal to report to a certain league mostly due to the fact they want to see where the player stacks up against what the team already has. Any team that does that is going nowhere fast.

Either way, I'm sure this guy is full of it. If the Coyotes wanted a forward so bad, they would have taken Michkov.

Oh it's a consideration, sure. That's not what the tweet reads. I didn't see Dvorsky mocked at 6 overall by anyone! Most scouting services had him 8-12 exactly where he went! This is an agent trying to make his client look like he should have went higher.

You don't not draft a guy because he wouldn't go to Sudbury which is exactly what the tweet says. Dvorski would have gone 6th to Arizona but wouldn't go to Sudbury so he fell in the draft! Nonsense!

Because he wouldn't play in Sudbury? Let's pass on him for that? I can almost assure you is 100% false! Like you said , they then take a Russian under contract through 2025 and have zero control over his development. None of this adds up. The only thing that's true here is likely that Dvorsky did not want to play in the CHL which almost everyone already knew! That's why he was a late 2nd round euro pick. Top 5 talent. Everyone passing cause he wouldn't report! Nothing to see here!

Maybe the truth is that he said he wouldn't play for Arizona. Maybe Arizona is the "kids Disneyland" since it's such a small rink, market and fanbase!

Actually Arizona was highly interested in Dvorsky all year long. AIK’s staff has stated to several sources that Arizona was the team on him the most, more than any other in the league and would frequently communicate with the staff and coaches of AIK. As for your statement on “most scouting services had him mocked at 8-12?” Those services being? And their connections to NHL organizations? 99% of those mocks are the same as Joe Blow making his mock draft as they have very little to no connections to actual scouting staffs around the league. Wheeler and Pronman, fault them for their rankings and views as much as you want, have legitimate connections around the league and both had Dvorsky going to Arizona at 6 in mocks. McKenzie’s rankings had him at 7, and he was described as a serious threat to break into the top 5.

Now I do doubt the report being true, if anything it could’ve been the meeting the Coyotes had with Simashev right before the draft that swayed them in his direction and sold them on targeting him and But.

Very excited to see Dmen - Protz, C.Walton and Jackson at camp. All LD. Hoping one of them separates themselves from the pack and can really elevate their game. Would be ideal if someone like Protz or C.Walton can come in and take a big step by solidifying their spot in the top 6, along with developing into an NHL draft pick for next summer.

I expect Jackson to be a real threat to contend for the 7th spot. The kid is an excellent skater and already close to 6’2. An offensive threat who develop into our QB of the future. If he can resemble his play as to Winders first round dman last year he could maybe even slide into the third pairing on the left side. I guess time will tell.

Wheeler had him mocked at 6. Pronman had him mocked at 8. Wheeler specifically says Arizona wants Reinbacher but since he isn't on the board(taken 5th by canadiens in his mock) don't be surprised if it's Dvorski. He had them taking Dvorski because Reinbacher was off the board at 5.

I'm a Habs fan so here are his rankings from May 16th. One month away from the draft.

Dobber Prospects: #17
Elite Prospects: #17
FCHockey: #11
Hockey Prospect: #11
Hadi Kalakeche: #17
McKeen's: #10
Bob McKenzie (TSN): #9
NHL Central Scouting: #3 (European skaters)
Corey Pronman (The Athletic): #8
Scott Wheeler (The Athletic): #8

Why did Arizona pass? They scouted him pretty hard according to you and your AIK contacts? Must have seen something they didn't like to justify taking a Russian player they didn't get to watch much! Anyway, we are off-topic here. This has nothing to do with the Wolves anymore. Would have a been a nice surprise if he came but he's too good for the best development league in the world. Dvorski fell to 10 picked around where he was expected to go and it's 100% not because he wouldn't report to Sudbury.
