Went and watched USA Blue play Finland today. Early in the 1st, Quentin Musty was bent over clutching at his hand as he glided out to his man at the point. He then skated hunched over to the bench and had the trainer checking him out. He didn’t return. He was clearly hurt but it didn’t SEEM like it was anything serious. Hopefully just precautionary and he’ll be 100% long before Wolves camp opens.

not disagreeing with you, but man, the asking price for 1 year of Beck is a little too rich for me.
If I’m the Wolves, I don’t give up Caden Taylor for a rental. I don’t think they need to. They have probably the deepest draft pick cupboard league wide (7x2nds. 8x3rds). Based on last year’s prices, they can add multiple, high end rentals without being forced to move Taylor.

The only way I move Taylor is as part of a deal for a high end ‘05. At least then, they’d be able to move that ‘05 for big return the following season.

If the return for Owen Beck has to be somebody’s 16 year old 1st rounder, as Petes1987 continues to insist, the Petes may have to shop him to a contending team with a thin draft pick cupboard. That seemed to be the case last year at the deadline where Luca Testa and Porter Martone were the only 16 year old 1st rounders to go for rentals. Sarnia was out of picks and London valued the few picks they had left over Testa.

I don’t see Beck going to Sudbury. I think a team like Saginaw, who has a little thinner draft pick cupboard (6x2nds. 5x3rds), may be a better fit for Owen Beck if the Pete’s have to have a 16 year old 1st. Hosting this year, I think it’s a given that their 1st will be moved and won’t bat an eyelash doing so.

An example of a Taylor for an 05 deal could be with Kitchener for Carson Rehkopf. An 05, Rehkopf will be a front line player this year and next. He has 40+ goal potential. Should the Rangers make Rehkopf available, a deal to Sudbury would make sense. The Rangers don’t look to contend the next couple years so Rehkopf would be expendable for the right price.

A deal where Rehkopf / Taylor are the primaries could mirror the Owen Beck deal last year. The Wolves would be able to move Rehkopf next deadline if they chose to to recoup picks, as what could happen with Beck in Peterboro this year.

As always nicely written post.

I've had difficulty getting any information regarding QM as the Summer Showcase Tournament. Anybody have any insight as to how he's doing? I was interested in seeing how QM compared to the other highly touted US players.

who is the last ontario drafted goalie that did well in sudbury? mitch weeks was decent in his last year, before him? timpano wasnt that good, mcgrath was over hyped....its odd they dont really draft goalies well dating back 10/15 years?

Hi everyone, I'm catching a preseason game in Sudbury next month. It's a town I've always wanted to visit, but I was curious if anyone has any hotel suggestions. In a perfect world I'd like to stay walking distance from the rink with multiple options for late-night adult beverage options and food but the online ratings for hotels meeting that criteria aren't great. TIA!

The teams stay at the Northbury hotel 5min to rink, Townhouse is the place to be after the game, Laughing buda next door to the townhouse great food especially the pizza. Hope this helps.
