Thanks for the tips! Hitting Soo as well on this trip will put us over the halfway point of covering the OHL bingo card (11 of 20).

For walking to the Sudbury Arena try the Best Western Minto/Larch Sts or Quality Inn on Elgin both one block from arena much easier walk then the Nortbury.

Stayed at the Best Western last time I came to Sudbury the last time i was in town for a game. The only good thing I can say was a nice short walk. The rest of it was awful. Would not recommend it to anyone.

Yeah, the ratings weren't good there. I think we're going with Northbury.

Thanks again everyone for the suggestions and good luck this season. Looking forward to seeing Goyette and Musty.

If it’s between the wolves & ‘67s, I hope the wolves are willing to make the better offer

Good find. If true, Sudbury should be all in on Mayer. Perfect fit for them.

Is he more useful than Ananya ? I don’t think so. Pretty similar and Ananya is already with us and he doesn’t cost anything.

You keep Anania and add in Mayer. You flip Toure somewhere. As much as I like Toure, Mayer is an upgrade.

Can find these articles on the Ottawa thread. This one just happens to be on an all-purpose OA D that plays every single game and linked to the wolves. I like that.
In a perfect world, MacCallun can be sent to the Petes and/or ‘67s steered in the direction of Toure.

I’m hoping for a better solution on our left side. I think its the key position we need to look into and invest on a potential PP game changer.

On the right side if we are aiming at the cup I would rather lock in Collins, Mania and Toure. At the trade deadline Chromiak becomes a trade asset unless there’s a big step up in his game. He’ll have 3 Months to show what he’s made of with Mania and Collins not there to start the season.

Mayer is much better imo. The only better all-situation OA LD that I can think of right now is Punnett.

I get what you're saying, but Mayer is no slouch. He had 48 points last season. Also Mayer's playoff and Memorial cup experience would be huge. Will probably be a PPG Dman as an OA this season and could easily quarterback our PP. Who is your target for a better solution on the left side being a PP game changer? There's really not much out there if you look. Mayer might be the best option, and best bang for your buck.

Nelson RD (if and when he becomes available, will be the best Dman available, but again a right shot)
Buchinger LD (Guelph is not trading him - they will contend in the West)
Brzustewicz RD (not a left D)
Dionicio LD (Import)
Donovan LD (potential target - would Brantford deal him?)
Sova LD (Can't see Erie dealing him - Erie should be strong this season)
Punnett LD (OA)

And as an OA OHL champion, he will be looked upon as a leader. Does the wolves projected roster have players that have won one playoff game? If Mayer is available, get him.

I like our chances better to win the Memorial cup in two years. I would trade for Sova and potentially have him for the next two years. Seriously other than Goyette and Collins we don’t lose a lot for Musty’s 19 yo season. Delic and Konyen as OA’s look very good.

If we are not in it by Christmas get a blockbuster deal for Goyette and Collins and we win in 2024-25 season.

I thought Mayer got himself exposed a lot especially at the Memorial cup he was out of position and got scored way too much. I think he was -8 after 3 games he played too many minutes maybe but boy he had a hard time.

If we’re all in this year I go Donovan all the way. He won with Hamilton two years ago.

At this time one year ago, I thought 2024-25 was the year for the wolves too. But the east is a lot weaker than I expected, thanks in part to four buyers at last years deadline. Also Barrie & Miss being able to load up on 2005-06 to the extent that they did was a surprise.
Erie looks the part of a good team and contender next season. Sova is not likely traded unless the Otters believe it is his final season.

Looks like they are planning on keeping Larmand as an OA this season. Who's the odd man out?

Nothing is a given, but it looks like he'll have an opportunity to come to camp and battle for one of the 3 OA spots. Maybe he'll surprise.
