Carlo has 2 years at a reasonable cap rate. Unless his play has drastically deteriorated, I'd expect Carlo to go for a high price. Boston isn't exactly pressed to move him and unless their is a youngster busting the doors down in Providence, they'll have a hole in their RHD spot. WPG is probably sending Salomonsson and some other assets. You'd essentially be paying to advance the positional timeline on that player so he can have someone today for a run.

Been battling injuries, but so far he's been healthy this year and producing at a respectable pace in the AHL as he's learning to use his new bionic body. He's on pace for a little under .5PPG on a Moose Team where there is almost zero offense being produced.

He's getting consistent top-6 minutes and usage and showing flashes of his high end offence and an NHL caliber wrist shot. (not to be discounted, but his flow is all-NHL level)

Even if we're ignoring the NTC thing (which we probably shouldn't, because it exists) I would imagine there are teams that would outbid what the Jets could offer, at least if it comes down to a single asset. That being said, some package including some but not all of Yager/Lambert/Lucius/Barlow/1st might get the conversation going in the right direction.

Personally, I think people will be surprised by any Carlo return. Giant, shutdown, RHD's don't become available all the time. He'd fill a massive need on more than half the teams in the NHL.

As a Bruins fan I would sell him to the highest bidder. IMO his defensive play has fallen off a cliff this season (though the same can be said for pretty much the entire team)...though I'd be interested to see if the advanced stats support the eye test. He was never a great puck handler but these days he has two moves: throw it off the glass to no one in particular or turn it over. Add all that to the long list of concussions he's had over the years and the Bruins should be looking to sell while his value (hopefully) remains high.

Who would he replacing on the Jets RD?

Not sure the juice is worth the squeeze TBH, Jets don't need RD upgrades IMO, they need a 2C upgrade most by far (then they would need a 3rd pairing LHD upgrade which are cheap). Playing DeMelo or Carlo as a 3rd pairing RHD makes no sense.

I like the idea of a RHD if he truly is an upgrade.. as in he pushes Demelo down the lineup

I don't think there are many out there who are available (especially to winnipeg) and and I don't think I'd like the cost either

Plus, anyone with term will likely block Salo

I don't disagree he's an upgrade over DeMelo, but as I stated is the juice worth the squeeze regarding the cost to get him and how much of a upgrade he actually is........vs the big need at 2C which we have IMO. I would much sooner take any assets required to get Carlo and apply them to get a 2C. Jets priorities are IMO:

1) 2C upgrade over Names/Lowry

2) 3rd pairing upgrade at LHD over Stanley






3) Any RHD upgrade over anyone on the Jets RHD (and if we did get a RHD if a 2C upgrade wasn't available, then I would want a RHD with term for our top 4)
